One of the best Hostels I have stayed at. Miriam and Thomas were more than helpful and made you feel right at home. This is how a Hostel should be.

Great time with Robert and Thomas! The atmosphere was perfect and there are monkeys that watch you drinking your coffee. What else could you ask?

Really good hostel, close to supermarket, two kitchens, I would recommend it. One thing that could be improved is temperature inside the rooms.

Located about a 10 minute walk from the center of Tamarindo. Good character, pretty design, howler monkeys in the neighbouring tree. The staff were very helpful.

Miriam is a wonderful host and the hostel is always spotlessly clean. Lockers, comfy beds and an excellent common area and good people made this hostel an excellent place to stay.

You want to go to a safe hostel? Two words.. razor wire.

We stayed here a couple nights and it was great. The community area out front had day beds, rocking chairs and hammocks. The atmosphere was very chill and welcoming. Still in 5 minutes walking distance from the beach but it is one of the further hostels. I'd definitely stay here again if I go back to Tamarindo!

Great place, great staff, Sam and the beautiful Miriam! Can be difficult to leave during the day as it's such an easy place to relax and chill in, there's always a crowd heading into town for beers at night if that's what you are after, or if you just want a quiet night then you can chill in a hammock, best of both worlds!

Wonderful hostel! Kudos to Miriam, Sam and all the other staff that truly made me feel at home and have a blast too! Common area was one of the best I've seen, lots of activities: ping pong, card games, hammocks etc. Plus the ambience was great: plants everywhere and the large fan shaped terrace under the thatched roof, ahhh - pura vida! Trying to think of something that could be improved....Adding a laundry sink/area for guests to use would be great. Highly reccomended!

Hostel Pura Vida is a great choice for Tamarindo. The Hostel is in a good location (close to the beach & super market). The enviroment is one of the best I've seen in many years of Hostel travel. Miriam (the owner) is a very involved owner (which is rare). She helped me tremendously with transfer bookings, tour info and local suggestions that were worth thier weight in gold. She answers e-mail rapidly and is a great resource that should not be overlooked.

I booked this hostel with my brother for 3 days and I ended up staying 18 days. Miriam, the owner is an amazing person, and with the incredibly fun communal vibe, very clean rooms, and inexpensive surf trips to other beaches, it was the best place I\'ve stayed at in a long time. This was my third trip to Tamarindo, and this is hands down the best hostel in town. I wish the showers had hot water, but the warm company more than makes up for it. Oh, and Sam does a mean load of laundry:)

This was a great, friendly hostel where anyone can feel at home. The rooms are clean, there is food close by and the staff really help out everyone there! There is a lot of opportunity to meet others, party, relax, etc. From what I heard about other Tamarindo hostels, this is the best by far!

Just as the name suggests, Hostel Pura Vida was amazing on every level! Miriam and Sam are the most helpful hostel hosts I have ever stayed with. They had every bit of information I needed and always knew the cheapest and easiest ways to do stuff. The facility itself is absolutely beautiful, the pictures online do not do it justice, this place is breathtaking! The bunks are comfy and the pingpong table, foosball table and pool table really add to the common areas. I'll definitely be coming back!

I stayed here for a week in December. This is the place to be in Tamarindo. It has everything. close to the beach, has great staff. BIG dorms (bigger than others like Blue Trailz). 2 kitchens, a restaurant 2 steps away that offers good food for $3000 colones $6. But its the smaller things that caused me to extend my stay at pura vida. The staff is awesome. Sam is great, Miriam is awesome and extremely knowledgeable and helpful and the massive lounge area is great for drinks and meeting people

We were in Tamarindo during a pretty quiet period, but you can tell that Pura Vida is a great party hostel if there are actually people there. On our last night, the hostel filled up and it was a great time. Everyone pregamed at the hostel and went out together. Sam was super helpful and did everything he could for us- he even let us borrow his laptop for over two hours! very nice layout, lots of games, good kitchen
