This was absolutely fantastic hostel to stay in. Everything was very clean, and the staff were exceptionally helpful. My friends and I wanted to take a tour and a fishing trip, and Tomas helped us out immensely. There is so much stuff to do and to go and see in Costa Rica, and he gave us some great advice on the best local tours. Its about a 5 min walk to the beach which I kinda liked; it was quieter at night, but we always felt safe and secure as everything is well fenced in and gated.

Good hostel. Has a nice central area with lots of tables, hammocks and chairs to socialize. Has two kitchens, a ping pong table that doubles for flipcup and beerpong and friendly, helpful staff. Only thing lacking was toilets out of the dorm rooms (each dorm has a private toilet), and each night we had to turn out the lights in the common area by 11pm. Overall a great hostel and i made many friends here. If i was heading back to tamarindo, pura vida would def be my #1 choice.

I cannot say enough good things about the Hostel Pura Vida. The Hostel is set in a beautiful garden; the two kitchens and large shared areas open onto the garden. This hostel has the feel of a luxurious resort. Also the hostel was very quiet in the evenings, the owner of the hostel requested this and the guests respected the request.

There is no frontdesk, you have to ring a bell to talk to someone and it is like you are disturbing them all the time. There is no security at night. It is pretty far from the downtown and all the restaurants. There is so many other hostels closer and with a better service by the beach and restaurants. It was our worst hostel in Costa Rica. We felt lost and were unable to get any answer from the staff without feeling bad. Some people even got robbed in their room while they were sleeping.

We were only here for a short stay, but our room was comfortable. The deck/common area has lots of chairs and hammocks and, in the evenings, lots of guests spent time there, making it easy to meet and talk to other travellers. The door to the bathroom in the double room was a shower curtain and the room was not super clean, but it was ok. The WiFi did not work in our room, but in the common area, it worked fine.

Staff was eager to help by changing our room, doing laundry, providing space to keep our motorcycle at night. The owners were visiting and were friendly too. Loved meeting people from Austria, Slovakia as well as North America. Our only annoyance was part of our groceries disappeared. Next time we need to take a marking pen and container. Otherwise it was a delight. They even provided a Safe in our room.

The staff were very helpful and friendly and well organized too. I like the large, open 'rancho' area for hanging out, rocking in rocking chairs and swinging in hammocks. Very nice! The kitchen could have done with a few more cooking implements but otherwise was adequate.

I really liked this hostel. It had lots of common areas, two kitchens (one of which was really big) and hammocks to chill out in. I would definitely stay here again, it was my favourite of 3 hostels I stayed at in Tamarindo.

Great place, very chilled - Great lounging area. About a 10-15min walk from the beach but located really close to the grocery and bars. The hostal folks will head out almost every night to a bar if you're looking to get drunk and meet strangers.

The facility is great. The hang out spot at the hostel is very relaxing and comfortable. Not to far from the beach (probably a 5 minute walk). Great atmosphere and very helpful staff. Highly suggest staying there for the price. Also a very nice kitchen set up for cooking. Wifi as well through out the facility.

The staff here were very friendly upon my arrival even before, helping me find a bed at such short notice by e-mail. I had planned to stay only a few night and go to Playas Del Cocos for some diving on the Catalina Islands but the owner found me a shop nearby in Brazilito that offered the same dives for less money. She even booked it for me with front door pickupand drop off. My only complaint is the poor WIFI at times. Other than that I would very much recommend this hostel to others.
