Very good location. 2 blocks from the beach. Very nice staff, very friendly. They organize good excursions as well to the pyramids. Cylean youth hostel. And the best: a bar which gathers everybody and gives the possibilit to meet many people.

Rio Playa is for those who want to party. The bar on the roof is awesome, but as for those looking to relax, mabye go to the hostel down the road.

This hostel was amazing! We had our own amazing private room that overlooked the rooftop pool and bar. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and there was an open bar for girls for one hour every night. I would definitely stay here again!

Wow what a wondeful hostel. The Brazillian guy who works there was really friendly and went out of his way to help me. The rooms were really clean, the bar was awesome free drinks for girls from 10-11. Easy to make new friends. Close to everything. Very loud at night but if you are a heave sleepr no worries.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The location is absolutely perfect if you're looking to live it up and party round the clock or until you pass out. Lots of young bakcpackers/travelers going out dancing/hunting together once the hostel bar closes. If you are noise averse, you should find a different place but otherwise this is what you're looking for.

As always, this is the gold standard for hostels in Playa. I lived there last year for a few weeks and loved it and was just back on a short stay this trip. Rooftop bar can't be beat, it's clean, and the staff are great and friendly. Wonderful spot.

Excellent location, near from Bus Station, near the Beach, near Nightlife. Nice staff, especially the Brazilian guy Marcelo, that was really helpful and always looking to help everyone.

This is a awesome hostel! If your here to party then this is the best place to stay. But if you want a quieter room then let the manager know and he will go out of his way to make sure your having a good time and to make sure your happy. Its a great place to meet other travellers and the bar upstairs is awesome. Totally recommend this hostel.

What a great Hostel! Playa del Carmen is a wonderful city, but being in a hostel like this one makes the experience even better. Friendly stuff, and fun fun fun!!

Otherwise a great experience, but there is no soap in the bathrooms, and there is no way to recycle anything or fill your water bottle (such a waste to buy plastic bottles all the time). Breakfast is just toast, but there is a store nearby and you can use the kitchen, so that's fine. Definitely a party hostel.

Just a big problem in this quite nice and well located hostel: the place turns into a bar disco till late and noise insulation is non existent.... If you need a good sleep, run away!!!

Nice place if you're looking for party, the shared spaces are really good compared with other hostels. If you plan to go to bed early maybe is not the best choice because of the noise.

Went by myself for 3 days of sun in Playa, and Hostel Rio Playa was the best option. The staff was super friendly, the rooms with good space, good bed and basically with everything I needed. Plus the rooftop bar was great to make friends. Totally recommend it and will be back often!

Probably the best hostel in Playa del Carmen. There's a small pool to chill in, they book tours, get you in to some clubs for free, and take you to coco bongos at discount Fun times!
