a marvelous and organised team of charming helpful young people. I enjoyed the little garden, the general ambiance, and happy hour round an oval bar seated on stools - chats about travels in Cuba or a story about witnessing levitation. Piano and guitars avaiable, i enjoyed the flow of easy listening songs. Slightly off the beaten track in a quiet road...

The hostel was very nice, the double private room was a bit small but the price was nice. The kitchen and garden are nice and the hostel atmosphere encourages making friends and socializing. The bar is nice as well.
This is an especially good hostel. Highly recommended and also a good place to hang out in the evenings.
best atmosphere ever ever!!! And good beer!
Great hostel, awesome staff, good location. Don't rent a bike from the hostel- the city bikes that you are connected to the machines only cost 1 euro per hour!!!!
I was impressed by the fact that we've been offered a double room with no additional charge, even if we had a reservation of two beds in a mixed dormitory. The breakfast of cereals, yogurt, fruit salad and coffee (with possibility for recharge), for just 2.9 eur, was delicious. :)
A-MA-ZING! Great staff, well located, cool building with all the necessary facilities, great rooms (it is annoying that the male dorm is cheaper than the mixt dorm though) Certainly one of the best hostel ever !
The hostel had a nice chilled-out atmosphere and lots of cool quirks that other hostels miss out, such as the use of free instruments, games and books to use, and free lockable lockers. The staff were very pleasant and informative, and the hostel was pretty well-located. The only downside was the beds themselves, which were fairly small and cramped, especially for taller guests.
Convinent location. Great staff! Def recommend :)
great hostel. booked a double room and upgraded to garden view apartment in second building. breakfast ok. gardens lovely and helpful staff too. right by west bahnhof and nice walk to city centre.
The staff do their job to the utmost: managers, receptionists, cleaners, designers. You may find a cheaper place in Vienna, though at Ruthensteiner your really feel what you pay for: the rooms are spacious & spotlessly clean with free lockers & bedside lights. Real wooden furniture, floors, doors. Well-equipped guest kitchen. And the INNER YARD as a cherry on the cake. This hostel has been my choice for Vienna for more than ten years.
Very nice hostel with a garden. Helpful staff who can give you all the information needed. Very clean and the location is great.
Excellent service and confortable enviroment for travelers!

stayed in a 6 bed mixed dorm which actually had some space to lay stuff out and a table with a few chairs and our own ensuite.. the hostel has lots to offer and great informative staff and boards!! would definitely book again! super convenient to west bahn hof train station and only about 20-30 min walk to palace and museum quarters. unfortunately no free walking tours are done at all in vienna so missed some info and history but a great stay to come home to at the end of the day
The common space was really nice and easy to meet people. I would definitely stay here again!
Desk staff was great! I didn't catch any names but everyone was very helpful! Kitchen was great, wifi was very well connected, rooms were nice and spacious :) bar was okay, not the best for socializing but all and all for a solo female traveller it was good!
Great hostel - had a fantastic stay. The hostel is clean and well-maintained. Beds comfortable, bathrooms clean, good linens. The best part about the hostel was the awesome staff. Really friendly and always willing to help. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone visiting Vienna.
Very nice hostel. Room was clean and the location was good. Easy to find and a 30-40 minute walk to the centre.
No ladder into bunk beds makes it quite awkward to climb into the top bunk. My bag was too big/heavy/awkward to fit in the locker so I left it on the floor ( like I've done countless other places) and someone decided to help themselves to some of my clothes. NOT IMPRESSED. Yes you need a key to get in the room, but there were times when I came back mid afternoon and the door was Wide open. So anyone could have just strolled right in.
