Super friendly and helpful staff, good kitchen, comfy beds, good WiFi. Only downsides were you are a fair way from the centre of the city, even with Westbahnhof so close by, transport is quite expensive and the bar opens too late. Otherwise, really great hostel
This is the best hostel I have stayed in so far! I absolutely recommend it to everyone! The atmosphere is fantastic, so much public space and the staff is so friendly! I was bummed that I only stayed one night.
This hostel is great. We had a great time here and would recommend it to anybody. Clean rooms and bathrooms, nice kitchen, and really close to the train station. No complaints whatsoever!
Overall a great experience. The staff was really helpful and had plenty of maps, tips, restaurant recommendations etc. The bar had people at it each night, and drinks were reasonably priced. Met a bunch of cool people and the place always seemed to be clean. One of the (if not the) nicest hostels I've ever stayed in. If you're worried about location, don't be. 6 bed room was nice and big, but the 4 bed room i stayed in the last night was a bit cramped.
Quite a nice hostel to stay, but a bit of a walk to many of the attractions. Close to a supermarket and to the west train station, there are few bars in the neighborhood and the WiFi was good. If the price stays low I would come back.
Pretty good location close to Wien Westbahnhof. There was a good vibe at the hostel and the happy hour at the bar was a nice touch. The breakfast could be improved. During my three days there, not once did I notice anyone coming in to clean the rooms, or even check on them. On my last day there I noticed some water (or some type of liquid) on the bathroom floor. So I wiped it up and the towel I used was now completely black; which was a bit off-putting.
Nice hostel with friendly staff and a good bar where you can meet people. Decent vibe and a good place for solo travellers
Wonderful hostel with an extremely kind staff. Only a short metro ride from central Vienna.
Loved it! Everyone was so helpful and I loved the common room. Laundry facilities were a little confusing but otherwise all the other facilities worked well.
Nice hostel located close to metro station so easy to reach main attractions. Staff were always helpful and the atmosphere was very friendly.
10-minute walk from the train station to this clean & safe hostel on a quiet street. The staff was amazing helpful with sight seeing plans for guests on limited budgets. The staff had a high level of courteousness. It was obviouse they personally enjoyed working at Ruthensteiner. The staff had personal experience staying in European hostels so could offer help for your next distinction. Great hostel options: kitchen, garden, bikes, laundry, bar, optional breakfast, free computers.
Enjoy a cinnamon and apple tea on entry as you step out of the crisp autumn air. Just a measly walk from shops, the stunning museum quarter and the market. Or an even closer walk to the metro, from where all of Vienna is easily accessible. The staff are personable and helpful with ready-made instructions on how to get to major parts of Vienna available to take from the front desk - this saved me when I was in a rush! Always very clean and well maintained, the kitchen is perfect for making meals!
There's a reason this hostel is rated #1 in Vienna!! They absolutely deserve it! GREAT staff, facilities, atmosphere, etc. The hostel bar is the place to be. I only rated it good for location b/c its a few stops + 5min walk fr main station but their underground system is great once you figure it out (it operates entirely in German). We are a couple and got a private room here, comfiest beds and great value compared to a hotel. The standard for world hospitality should be Ruthensteiner!!! :):):)
Very nice hostel with very good staff and atmosphere. You can meet there a lot of different kind of people ranging from party animals to calm and chatty people. They have managed to create a very friendly place. It's too bad they have to close the garden at 10pm, but beside that I strongly recommand this hostel.
I loved the hostel, it's so warm, the staff is really friendly, the rooms are perfect and comfortable. One of the best hostel that I stayed
The location of the hostel is really good, really close to the westbanhof. Staff were super nice and friendly. Breakfast was cheap and alright. The only problem I had was with the lights in the bathroom that turn off automatically after a certain time so sometimes I had to stumble out of the shower to turn the light back on. Apart from that everything else was great!
I stayed here for 3 nights with good experiences staffs were kind, nice and facilities were also good and clean Only one thing I felt uncomfortable was light of bathroom because I tend to take a shower for a bit long time so It turned off automatically haha but it might not matter for you guys:) You can take out your arms from shower booth and just shake your arms hehe except this, everything was great. kitchen, bar, bed things like that:)
The guy who helped me at reception was truly a gem! Without telling me, he gave me the keys to a 4 all-female bedroom while I was supposed to be in a 10 people mixed room. Staff were all incredibly considerate and helpful with a great sense of humour! The place is easily accessible and everything was spot-on! I can only recommend wholeheartedly!
Very conveniently located near a well connected Metro station. Loved all the musicality of the ambiance, especially the beautiful piano in the common room! I just stayed for a night, the dorm was comfortable, with a good sized locker. If you're tall and get a lower bunk though, watch your head. All in all, a great place that I'd definitely recommend.
Oh my god this hostel was so awesome. Really good atmosphere and facilities, really thought I should be paying a lot more for what I got, it was absolutely amazing! You could party with anyone else if you wanted at the bar but as soon as you left it was silent, for the people who wanted a quiet night in. Was next to Westbahnhof Station which I'd consider the main station to move to or from in Vienna. Great place and was sad to leave!
