Great atmosphere, staff, facilities and cleanliness. For the ones who love music is the perfect hostel to play and sing at the bar, making friends and having lots of fun. Rooms are great and quiet at night, so no trouble for travelers who just want a good night for sleep.
Close to the train station and public transit. The kitchen was a bonus... Breakfast is optional for purchase. Im sure the courtyards are beautiful in the summer. A pretty relaxed and homey place. Drink all the tap water you can!
Close to train station; 20-30 min walk from 'downtown'. Bathrooms were great. Bar was cool. Wifi worked in the rooms. Overall good stay. Would stay here again.
Nice facilities, close to the center, train station and Mariahilferstraße, lockers and safety lockers. I did not have enough time to experience the atmosphere, but I will be happy to come back again.

Nice, clean hostel close to all needed facilities (train station, U bahn,...) you will need to explore Vienna. 20 min walk to old part of town, good and cheap breakfast.
a big hostel ( 2 buildings) in a good location. just 8 minutes from the Westbahnhof station. very clean and nice hostel.
A-mazing. The oooonly downside was that the rooms do not automatically lock behind you, and they are sort of stiff, so our door was constantly unlocked because people assumed the door locked behind them. Everything else was great. Beds comfier than the avereage hostel, bartender was fun, showers were to die for, huge lockers. A definite must stay.
Close to westbanhof and 20mins by walk to schobrunn palace. Awesome staff, especially mark or matt cant remember (english guy) so friendly and goes beyond to pleased us. Keep it up. There are couple different building buy i dont find it as problem. They provide locker and key. Ohh..perhaps because they're using manual key so some guest leave the room and not sure just dont bother to lock it or simply forget it.
We will be coming back to the hostel and Vienna. The hostel was great and we love the city. A great few days in Vienna, made even better by staying at Hostel Ruthensteiner.

Right near a major train station and two metro lines. Main Street around the corner is dotted with decent fast food and good bakeries. In house breakfast is a little pricey (3 euro) but not a bad option if you fill your plate high. Staff were excellent, diverse and extremely knowledgable. They were also not afraid to suggest alternative plans of they thought ours needed tweaking. Would stay again.
I've been packing around Europe for two months, and staying in hostels the entire time. Hostel Ruthensteiner was by far the BEST hostel I've stayed in! You're welcomed by friendly staff and a cup of spiced apple tea. They had complimentary lockers available to store your luggage in until the room was ready. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The atmosphere is perfect for hanging out. There were musical instruments and a great bar. The kitchen was superb! A perfect place to stay in Vienna!
I have nothing to complain. For like 20 EUR/night five minutes walk from Westbahnhof? Definitely recommend.
Very friendly staff, nice location, good value for money.

Great hostel across two buildings. Good kitchen, common space, and everything you would expect. Good set up in the dorm rooms that the lockers are in a separate area so you don't get disturbed by early risers. Bit bizarre that the bunks don't have ladders.
For the price it is the best. It's close to the Western railway station, but in reality there isn't anything interesting in the neighborhood. But if you take the subway a few stops you are in the city center so it's well connected.
This hostels facilities are great, they have a bar, its in a good location, the staff are pretty good. All in all this hostel is very good. The only thing that i can knock is that on their site it says they have 10 bed dorms and we booked one, only to rock up and find out we were in a 4 bed. Which most people probably wouldn't have a problem with.. but to be honest i prefer 10 bed dorms.. normally they feel less awkward and theres more room. Other than that this is a quality hostel
One of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. Staff was so friendly and helpful, rooms were very clean, and there was a big common area for relaxing and meeting people. Can also rent bikes for 12 euro a day, which I highly recommend! Lots of bike paths so it was a great way to see vienna
Great hostel in Vienna. Short ride into the town center. Social without being too loud. They have a nice bar and lounge area, plenty of communal areas, and a nice kitchen. They don't offer free coffee or tea (which I think all hostels should) which is kind of a bummer. Weird thing is the common areas are not in the same building as some dorms. I could imagine that in poor weather having to walk from the common areas to your dorm would would be annoying. Would definitely recommend this hostel.
The feel of the dorms was lacking - I felt like I was staying in a hospital. But the common areas had a better vibe to them. Staff was pretty good, though the cleaning staff would disturb us every morning coming in and out to clean, pre 10AM. I was staying in an all female dorm and a male housekeeper just walks in without permission. Not professional. Wifi was good overall, worked everywhere. Clean. Timer on showers was a nuisance. Overall good stay!
It's a nice hostel with a quite good location (between Schonburg and Museum Quarter). Staff is very nice and helpful too. It was a good choice.
