I think this is the best hostel I've ever stayed in - friendly and helpful staff, nice atmosphere and location, no need to pay for anything extra (linen, towels, wi-fi - everything included in price...)...
Great staff and it was nice to have a bar in the hostel to grab some drinks.
Only here 2 days but I liked it. Very clean, stayed in the single bed room and it was very nice and good price, bigger hostel, a bit impersonal but not impossible to meet other travellers. Staff is okay for info, but maybe could know more than just the typical tourist sights. Breakfast is definitely overpriced but that was my only major issue. Wasn't here long enough to get a great feel for the place, but I enjoyed my short time here. I think it'd be alright for most travellers.
This was a great hostel , free computers, printing and bedding , great kitchen good bar and easy to meet people . Great value for money !
Very low bunk beds! I don't know why it frustrates me when I can't sit up on the bottom bunk
We really liked our stay in the hostel! It is very clean with very friendly staff. The only disavantage can be that the rooms are quite small and we had a lot of noise from the toilet in the corridor. But overall we were very happy with this hostel.

Nice atmosphere.. Friendly staff...met a lot of cool and interestingpeople...
This hostel was welcoming from the moment you walked through the door. Unlike a chain hostel, Ruthensteiner had a homely feel and had all the facilities to make it feel that way.. a great kitchen, laundry and musical instruments to play as well. It seemed to be family friendly, and wasn't a party hostel, but it definitely had great common room areas to meet new people and enjoy a drink from their bar.
The complementary sandwich :) Good: - The location of the hostel is great. Only 5 minutes walking distance to Westbahnhog. It took me an hour to get from the hostel to the airport (walking, u-bahn, cat). - The staff looks OK. They were very friendly and helpful. Bad: - Shower is useless. I had to keep pushing a button to keep the water running. - No soup or any shampoo in the bathroom of a private room. - No private lockers. I will not recommend it. Sorry guys.
Could have appreciated towels. I was staying there for one night in Vienna, I didn't feel I need to bring my own towel. But wasn't a big deal, would just be something to think about. Other than, Loved the place.

Nice hostel, was a quiet part of the year in Vienna but staff were nice and there are good facilities, wish breakfast was included though!
Favourite hostel in all of Western Europe that we visited! I can't think of any negatives. Musical instruments available, awesome atmosphere, bike hire, big spacious facilities. I recommend this place definitely
Hostel location is perfect! The staff are amazing and will help you with any issue you have. Although we had none and we even were upgraded to a really cute private room with ensuite. One of their nicest rooms, apparently. We loved the lounge and spent ages playing the instrument each evening. Internet was fast and reliable. All in all a lovely stay.
Great hostel, easy to find with the provided directions. Great facilities and bar area. Kitchens were fantastic to cook in, and the hostel was very clean. Definitely recommended to others!
We stayed in the house across from the reception, and the wifi connection was rather unstable. other than that it was a very comfortable stay - the female dorm room was very quiet and tidy, and the shower the best I've seen in Europe so far. also the clean, white bed linens we received upon arrival made the bed very comfortable (no more allergies!). would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Vienna on a budget.
Hostel Ruthensteiner was a great hostel. It was located very close to the metro station so it was easy to get around via metro but I definitely wouldn't recommend it if you prefer to be in walking distance to the center. The atmosphere was good, loved the bar that opened in the evening with a happy hour. It was also a very big hostel -- which sometimes made it hard to meet people. Also walking distance to shopping area and supermarkets and restaurants. Staff was pretty friendly. Big kitchen!
Excellent place to stay. Very friendly and helping staff. Like the fact that there are many different music instruments (piano! guitar, ukulele, acadion!). U could also rent bikes from the hostel which is very convenient compared to the city bikes provided (like in every other cities prior registration is required before renting the bikes). The only thing to improve is the breakfast. The price does not match with the (lowest) expectation. Will def recommend this hostel over the Wombat City.
This place was the best hostel I ever stayed at, so much awesome. The bar was a good value, and it was just the right size to encourage meeting new people. It was great to have a common kitchen to cook in - even better because it was super clean.
