Just a few minutes walking from Westbahnhof. The room was very small and the bed (meant to be a double) was small as well. The place was very clean and the stuff were friendly and helpful.

We had the two person private, it was comfortable but so small we could hardly find space for our bags. For 52 euros a night I felt we could have gotten a little more leg room. The communal areas were great though- the kitchen was easy to cook in, which not always the case. I'd definately go here again if I were to stay in a dorm.

Hi! First of all thanks so very much for staying with us and for all of the positive comments that you had to make! As to your room, it is a coincidence that you were the last ones to stay in your room before we made a major change- creating more space, room for luggage, etc. We are constantly updating & renovating our rooms so that everything is always like new! This room has a brand new wardrobe, complete with safety deposit box and extra plugs for computer, a new desk, and more room for luggage, etc. And the price is definitely one of the best that you can find in Vienna for the Easter Holiday for a private double bed room. We look forward to welcoming you back again one day! Happy traveling.

Hostel Ruthensteiner was amazing! It is a beautiful, new, clean spacious hostel with a very nice and helpful staff. The kitchen and dinding area/bar were big which made for a great place to socialize. I would definitely reccomend staying here! Breakfast was not included but you can get cereal bread fruit yogurt for 3 euro, or go to any of the markets that are a 2 minute walk.

very traditional hostel which assembles youths all over the world, and I really appreciate the useful tips offered by the reception which could greatly help us find the attraction sights.

Was a good hostel. Not too expensive by hostel standards in Europe. It's pretty close to westbahnhof and from there can ride the u-bahn to any where in the city.

Fantastic hostel! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The bar was great a night to hang out and meet other travelers. The computers were an added bonus in addition to the free wi-fi. The rooms were clean and there were plenty of toilets/sinks/showers. Loved it!

Fairly well-located for Westbahnhof train and underground station, but otherwise some distance from the city centre. Although it is on a back street, it is signposted from Maria Hilfer Strasse. The breakfast was good value and the rooms were clean and tidy. There was a nice mix of backpackers, citybreakers and others, and the staff were friendly.

Such a beautiful hostel: extremely comfortable, free safes, access by key only. No free breakfast, but it's cheap. Kitchen a bit small for the dinner-rush but manageable. €4 for laundry and €2 for drying. No lock-out! Really friendly, knowledgeable staff, in a really convenient part of the city. Really, a perfect hostel for any sort of traveler. Even in the dorm room it was really comfy--perfect hostel, will definitely recommend to anyone, and probably return to.

I really enjoyed this hostel! It's got genuine character, all the signage is hand made, the common areas are cozy and they even have a cute little garden. Loved happy hour, and that the common area stays open all night. Also they provide a locker with a key. Great for meeting new people and awesome recommendations for sight seeing. Staff are friendly and experienced. Would stay again for sure!

Ruthensteiner is a perfectly professional youth hostel with brilliant, helpful and experienced staff. Location is very good, a few minutes from underground station and a tram stop (f. e. to Shönbrunn). The bar is very cosy, cool and you can have wiener beer Otakaringer there which earned a huge plus from me. The rooms are really tiny without any wardrobes or shelves, the bathrooms are only enough for one slim person, but everything is absolutely clean and nice.

The hostel is good. It is clean, but the wi fi does not work inside of the rooms. The room that I got was smelling bad and it was so cold. The location is excelent and the staff is really nice.

Hi! Thanks for staying with us and for the nice things that you said about our hostel, staff, the cleanliness and about our excellent location! You will be happy to know that the WIFI now works perfectly just about everywhere! We have been in the process of installing new and better routers throughout the hostel. Unfortunately, as with life, everything cannot always function 100 % all of the time. We do try to act on any suggestions/complaints from guests immediately. As a result, this problem has been resolved. One musn't forget, though, that we not only have FREE WIFi, but FREE Internet computers for those who have no laptop with them and the fastest possible connection in Vienna. We even have IPads for our guests to use! As to the smelly room and the cold... I am so sorry that you didn't mention this while you were here rather than after the fact- we could have solved both problems immediately. You reserved a bed in a mixed dorm. There are pros and cons to sleeping in a dorm. Pros: you meet wonderful, interesting people from all over the world and sometimes make friends and partners for life! Cons: Sometimes, the guests forget to leave their shoes on the rack provided outside the sleeping area and this was most certainly the reason for the smell. (Some travelers only carry one pair of shoes.) Fortunately, 99.9% of our guests are very thoughtful to their roommates. 0.1 % is forgetful. Regarding the cold... the heating functions perfectly in your room as well, but evidently one of your roommates from a northern clime- who was too hot- turned it down. (A sign next to the heater gives the ideal setting.) Alas, the joys of staying in a dorm! "Some like it hot, some like it cold!" We look forward to welcoming you back and promise you great WIFI and a lovely room!
