Out of 15 hostels I have been to, this was my favourite. I think I liked the hostel more than Vienna.

The hostel had nice kitchen, laundry on site, and the rooms were clean and fairly spacious. We had 10 people in our room and only one shower/toilet, so that was a little difficult sometimes. The hostel is right next to the main train station but a bit of a walk from the city center.

The place is clean, well situated and fine for the price but the staff could definitively use some smile. No surprise, Austrian politeness is legendary. After checking out we didn't even get a good bye. Can do better...

It's very nice and cosy hostel with great inspiring atmosphere. All necessary facilities were available and staff was friendly. Great bar and lovely music evenings were a pleasant surprise. We'll definitely come back!

Clean and neat place to stay. Location near West bahnhof for an easy access for almost all main attraction. Numbers of food and snack selection around the hostel for quick breakfast or dinner. Sufficient number of toilet and shower, only the shower is tricky to be used for the perfect and stable water temperature. Heater works perfectly, lockers and other basic facilities (kitchen and utensils, washing machine, maps, etc) available.

Very close to the station (Westbahnhof), friendly staff and nice bar to meet other people. The triple room is very very small, you can stay there only to sleep.

Spent just 1 night but everything was perfect. It was Christmas Day and there was a lovely festive atmosphere in bar. Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was great and the bed was comfortable. A couple of room-mates came back at 5.30 in the morning slightly worse for wear, but they were quiet when asked to keep the noise down. It was Xmas Day after all! Overall, highly recommended.

It's a perfect place to stay! The center can be reached even on foot. The friendly staff and warm atmosphere. Hope to get back there ^___^

Although extremely close to the train station (4 min walk), it was some distance from city centre. The rooms were harshly lit, uncomfortably positioned, were stuffy & smelled of mildew. The bar in the main building was great, probably the best thing about the hostel. Staff was reasonably helpful when asked, but didn't go out of way. I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Great hostel, only sad we couldn't spend more time there! Wonderful homey feel and a real sense of community. Great facilities and the bar sells half litres of beer for 2euro at happy hour.

We were all very pleased with Hostel Ruthensteiner. Very knowledgeable staff who were always willing to help with directions and information. Nice facility - great kitchen. The online description and positive plugs were right on target! No exaggerations.

I stayed at this hostel twice while visiting Vienna. An authentic place managed by former travellers and it shows! It is this type of Hostel that is run to serve as a place where travellers can feel "at home" not to maximize profits. I definitely recommend staying there on your trip to Vienna!

Very easy to get to from the city center. Room was clean and warm, though a shelf by each bed would have been useful to put phone etc whilst sleeping. Staff were friendly. Felt that 10 euros for the key deposit was rather steep, but all in all, a great place to stay at!

Stayed here before. It's a large hostel that runs like a small hostel. That's why I love it. Communal areas are the right size, so you will meet people not hide on the other side of the kitchen
