Lovely staff, chatty and informative. Location good though a little noisy. The internet didn't work, although I mentioned it to the manager. I was a little concerned about security. The lockers were of wood, some rather loose and there wasn't always someone in the reception area.

Enjoyed our stay here. The owner doesn't speak English which could have been a bit difficult if our friend didn't speak spanish. Apart from that they were very helpful. We could book our adventures from the hostel and location was good. Lovely family run hostel.
Cannot fault this place. Lovely family run hostel, the guy is so so helpful. He helped us booked all our trips and buses at good rates. Cheap breakfasts for 4,000. Great location. Really clean.

Hostel was very quiet while we were there, so it lacked atmosphere. Overall a good hostel. One complaint was that there seemed to be staff living on the premises and they dominated the tv and common area which made it difficult for guests to use.
no comments but for sure i will never go back there. the shower cold. the location very poor.
it is a small place with 2 rooms and adorm, very private atmosphere, a quiet place, no parties. But a welcoming courtyard with hammoks, tv, and jacuzzy (is to be prapared before use) Staff was very friendly and helpful not only in booking tours but also to find a place to stay for another night when they were full. brakfast is good price/value and is was alwauys with an extra juice or fruits!
Great place, very helpful staff, lovely spacious room, nice and quiet with a good shower. No Wifi in the room, you had to go downstairs. Breakfast included but they dont make it clear when you arrive what that means so the first morning we were asked if we wanted fruit, yes, and how we wanted our eggs done, turned out we had the bigger breakfast which incurred a charge for three days! worth the money, but a shock when you get the bill, if you are a backpacker on a budget, make it clearer !
We had a great stay at this place. It's a 2 min. walk from the local bus station, where you can catch a bus to go caving and/or a day trip to Barichara. The place was quiet when we were there with only 1 or 2 other bookings. The staff were very friendly. The first night, it was run by a group of teenagers, but then after that, it was always 1 or 2 adults. The room was very clean upon arrival; however, they never cleaned our room during the rest of our stay. Staff helped to book day trips.
Perfectly nice place to stay and Ivan is incredibly helpful; unfortunately, located on a very busy corner so definitely bring ear plugs. Rooftop terrace has a nice view, comfier furniture would be a definite plus :).
We initially booked into Santnder Aleman for 2 nights but decided to stay an additional 2 nights because the hostel was great and San Gil is a cool place. We stayed at house 2, our room was exactly the same as a motel room, linen supplied, towles, hot shower. The host, Ivan, inparticular was excellent. He helped us out booking all the stuff we wanted to do including organising our bus tickets out of San Gil. The breakfasts each morning were also great, fresh fruit, coffee, eggs and toast.
The Hotel Santander Aleman Terra Vista is a nice, modern hostel in San Gil. Ivan, the man at the desk speaks more English than most Colombian hostel managers, and was very helpful in providing information on the area, bookings, and general questions about future travel. There was no hot water despite having a tap for it, which is my only complaint about this hostel. The top floor eating and lounging area is a great place for breakfast (included and top notch) or just getting a birds eye view.
The hostel owner is a great guy who speaks good English and is very friendly
Nice hostel with excellent staff. Be aware that there are two hostels withbthe same name, make sure you have the right one for your taxi driver, unlike me :-( Location is close to main plaza and local bus station. The roof terrace is a real bonus, hammocks etc are great fir chilling up there.
Really lovely place, great location, good rooms, free breakfast on the terrace. Ivan the owner is alsonreally lovely and is very helpful in trying to make your stay as good as possible. Would definitely recommend.
Very clean and relaxing hostel, well situation and extremely helpful and informative staff.
We arrived at 7pm, had reserved a double room, the confirmation email said check in anytime. When we arrived they said we were late, they had given our room anyway (even though we had paid). They found us a room at a crappy hostel with terribñle beds. Then had to walk back in the morning. Then were shipped off to their sister hostel. Offered a free breajfast but at check out found we had to pay for it. They suddenly forget english when there is an argument. Our new room had no lock, had to use padlock and couldnt lock when inside. Worse place we have ever stayed. Was constantly lied to. When leaving they reserved a bus but tld us the wrong time and charged us much more.
Muy buen hostel. Iván nos asesoro muy bien y gracias a el visitamos lugares super lindos. La atención es excelente y las comodidades del lugar tambien.
Did not stay in the Santander Aleman mentioned here but in its branch hostel not far away. This is more a hotel than a hostel and brand new. Perfect location in town and Ivan the owner is extremly helpful and multitasking ;-) Cares about all questions and wishes we had at once and makes it a place to feel home. Nice rooftop with breakfast (not included). A bit of character is still missing but we are sure this will come soon. Thanks for everything again!
