I went backpacking for six weeks in Europe, staying at hostels in seven different countries, and this was the WORST hostel we stayed at! It's like a maze and really dirty on the inside. Also, if you don't take a cab from the train station, you will NEVER find the hostel. It has a tiny sign that is like camouflage with all the buildings. It is in a good location, however, my friends and I were miserable because it was so hot. There is a extra large eating area to hangout in and cook if you want!
I was really surprised by this hostel. From the outside it doesn't look like much but the hostel is very cool and located in an old building. The elevator is made of wood and metal(the old ones where you have to manually close doors etc.) and the hostel is very spacious. I was in a 4 bed mixed dorm and there were single beds and no bunk beds. Bathroom was clean and the owner very friendly and pointed out places to go. Location was ok and you could walk to the centre of eveything in 10 mins.
Internet didn't work, no air conditioning in the bedrooms, too big to have the usual hostel atmosphere. But great location and it served its purpose.
I was arriving about 1.30 in the morning and its not really that far from the central station. and also florence was not really that dead. some bar are opened at night and the people are most of em tourists, so i would say low (limit to no tendency) criminal rate at night. the hostel was good. i booked for one bed in a dorm with 18 beds and you'll get a storage each beside your bed (bring own padlock). everything was nice, but do not expect too much like its a hotel. staffs are so helping
