This hostel overbooked and sold my bed. I got to look around the place before staying in it, but needless to say, this hostel is completely off my reccommendation list. I had to stumble the streets of Nice late at night to find a new place. Be warned friends. This hostel does not have it together and while it seems a great value for the money, you may end up homeless.

I cannot say I haven't enjoyed my stay at Hostel Smith but that's just because people were friendly... The price was WAY to high for what we found... a 12 bed shared dorm was in fact a 17 bed shared dorm... I am pretty sure the management did not need to let the place get overcrowded. The place was clean but the kitchen was tiny for the amount of people they tried to serve... In the end I would only get back there because of the great location.

It's nothing special but I was only there for a few days and it was in a great place for a pretty good price. It is cleaned regularly, but I really avoided the bathroom. It was shared with a lot of people and I don't have a high tolerance for unsanitary things. But the sheets were fresh, I just didn't use the comforter cause there was no cover. So it all depends on what you're looking for. It suited my needs, and the staff were decent.

This hostel was really disgusting. We walking in and it was dirty everywhere. Also, we arrived an hour after our time indicated on hostel world and they had given away our room and refused to refund us! I am glad we did not have to stay there as we looked into the rooms and the bathroom and it was really old and dirty. The common room was super small. The staff were also really rude to us and would not give us straight answers about anything.

They say they have a pool, mini mart, & key card entry. And those were false statements. The pool is a public pool a few blocks away. The mini mart just doesn't exist. There is key card entry to get into the building itself but then there are 4 more keys total to make it into your room. The 'shared bathroom' is shared with at least 20 people. They are both located on a "2nd" floor that is a sketchy add on, with a creaky wooden ladder to get up there. Bunk bed was wobbly and completely unsafe.

We met Frank when we checked in, and we were offered new rooms in a another building which we didn't mind at all. the place was newly done up, and have en-suite bathroom. the building was secure and location wise couldn't fault. it made our time in Nice that bit nicer

The location was really good, and the staff was nice. However, at hostelworld.com it said that towels were included and they were not, we had to ask for the code to the wifi more than five times before they fixed it for us (on the fourth day of our stay) and the pictures on their website are incorrect. It was a good hostel but it was NOT worth 60€/ night for a twinroom. It would have been okay if the staff weren't so lost, they had control of nothing..

Although it is located in the city center, the room was dIrty, stinky and extremely noisy (literally could not sleep at night until 4 or 5 am).

The man who runs the hostel was great, very informative and engaging, but unfortunately some of the other staff didn't really have a clue what was going on and weren't very friendly. Atayed in a large room with about 14 beds in which was rather cramped. Only 2 showers between us, but these were clean. The location is definitely the bonus of this hostel. Also there is free internet access. Shared kitchen was good but the breakfast included in price was awful- just bread from Monoprix and jam.....

A perfectly located hostel in the heart of Old Nice. However, not ideal for couples. I booked the twin room for me and my boyfriend and turned out to be bunk beds!! No real place to 'hang out' but I guess there are thousands of cafes at the doorstep to do that.... Apart from that the staff were lovely, was great to have wifi and there's a fantastic selection of DVDs that you can watch on a rainy afternoon!

Towels for hire were advertised, and no such thing existed. All they could give me was a hand towel, which was not suitable as I needed a shower. "Breakfast" was toast. That's it.. Layout of the hostel is weird, as is the staff. But one guy was very knowledgeable and had many tips and advice to offer. Staff was often using the public computers, not giving the guests the opportunity to use them.

The only good thing about this hostel was the location. The breakfast, which is included in the price, was terrible. The coffee maker does not work. You get 3 pieces of white bread (not more), no butter and some jam. Sometimes you get some milk but just to put in the coffee. The breakfast is just one hour and is inconvenient(9:30-10:30). Even though they clean the floors everyday, the mildew on the walls in the showers and the kitchen area never gets touched. The owners act busy and irritated..

The bedding and sheets smelled really bad. The neighborhood is great, but the bar downstairs is extremely noisy until about 3am. There was mold in the shower. The entire hostel looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. I was also overcharged by 8 euros and when I tried to explain this the hostel manager responded very condescendingly and refused to fix it. Finally, although I was guaranteed a locker, I wasn't given one because the manager had lost all the locker keys.

The staff made a mistake and overbooked the place when we got in. We had to wait til the evening to be able to check in. The place filled with smell of dirty socks and clothes. The pillow and sheets were not dry and smelled like mildew. Definitely one of the worst hostels I've ever stayed. On the plus side, they have good internet connections..

The owner of this hostel has much to learn in the area of customer service. Her son was gracious and very helpful. She on the other hand was rude and found it to be her place to lecture me on my "moaning" when I complained that I was not getting what I was paid for. (Ex: 15 people crammed into a room that said was promised to be a 12 person room, making me change my bed several times in order to accomodate other guests.)

it was a disaster. We booked a private room and it was very bad. it was not clean and smell very bad. it doesn't have new bed sheets. the place is in old town. No parking inside the building. There was a wifi Internet connection but I couldn't connect to it. the office is located far from the rooms. Hopefully we only booked the room for one night. Do not be deceived by the price. pay a bit more and get a better place.
