This is a really lovely and characterful hostel in a great location. Traditional building creates a good mountain holiday atmosphere. The hostel is spotlessly clean and warm - with really comfortable beds too. With breakfast included, it represents extremely good value for money and is great fun!

Heating in the room did not work, so they gave us a small electric stove Two days we were without WI-FI in the room The kitchen could only be used until ten p.m. The owner was not very kind and one girl of the staff scream us for use the kitchen after ten p.m. when other worker told us that we can use it all the day Water pressure in the shower was insufficient and sometimes the water was cold and sometimes hot The building is very old

Nice hostel, however our room was absolutely freezing. It was a twin and was extremely small with a large window. We went in January and of course we had a lot of snow and the heater just didn't cut it. We were told extra blankets were available but we just didn't want to get out of bed! Breakfast is just bread and cereal. However it is a lovely building and good location.

As with all such things you tend to get what you pay for. Location very good relative to public transport. Noise is a factor but anyone staying in a hostel should have earplugs. Not entirely impressed with bathroom cleaning activity in middle of night which will hopefully stop after this review. Ten minutes give or take ice on path to main street. Could do with a little more lighting in main areas. Skiing in immediate area cheap as chips which is basically what you come for right?

No doubt you will like Stara Polana. Breakfasts are included but not too rich - but hey, it's just a hostel. Cool place.

The hostel is in a really good location and the bulding has character! Downside was that the day we left, both of us came up covered in bites... fleas?

The hostel was excellent. Close to the bus/ train station and to the centre of Zakopane. I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone wishing to visit Zakopane. All the Staff were very friendly and helped me with anything I needed. Breakfast was basically all morning which meant you could get up and go earlier or have a lay in. Free internet at the main reception; only 1 computer-I never had to wait. Only thing was that because the hostel is made from wood there is a lot of banging doors.

A large old wooden villa set back 50m from the main road. Solid and well built though place seemed overrun by a school girls on arrival and the dorm I’d booked was unavailable. But to my delight they upgraded me to a twin room right at the top (room 10). It was a peaceful and comfortable place but didn’t seem the place to meet other travellers, not many comfortable places to sit. But it’s worth staying here because the place is old and charming. Beautiful kitchen and breakfast was sumptuous.

Good location for trekking, as it's nearby the bus station where minibuses go to the mountains. Not so close to the town centre, but still not far from it.

Disappointed by this hostel! First of all, we had booked a double room but were offered a dorm room instead. We had it to ourselves - OK - but still it wasn't what we wanted and had no flair at all. Everything in this hostel is kind of old and obviously not cleaned regularly: in the kitchen we opened the lid of a pot and it was full of mould. Yuck!! Hence, we didn't want to eat much of the breakfast, not knowing how much people pay attention to hygiene in this hostel. Wouldn't recommend it!
