Wow. If there was a perfect hostel in a perfect city, this is it. I was welcomed by the most friendly staff I've ever met (ended up being the owners). The view form the hostel is the best view in town, overlooking the river and from the top floor. Breakfast included which was nice. This felt more like a hotel than it did a hostel, thumbs up everyone there!
Better location impossible, in the middle of the city center. Breakfast was simple, but good (some types of bread, cereal, fresh fruit, coffee & tea). The employees were friendly and helpful. The hostel has a nice common room with computers, close to the bar, where everybody hangs out, making it easier to meet other travelers. Rooms were big, but with small lockers.
This hostel is in the perfect location - you can see the main churches, etc. from your window! The rooms are very spacious, clean, comfortable beds with good wifi and lockers. The showers are on the top floor, a little annoying with a push button, but clean and lots for everyone. Breakfast in the morning was basic but, that's expected. Besides some crazy dorm-mates (including an insane snorer!), I would recommend this hostel for future stays in Gent!
This is the second time I stay and I always have excelent comments! I love this place
Only two cons with this place: 1) girls may not like the shared facilities with men (both toilets and showers), but Im a guy so I didn't care 2) I think the check-in security was a bit slack, they need to take a copy of the ID or at least visually see it themselves. Other than that - this was a really really good hostel. Loved my stay here!!!
Very nice location. Loved the common rooms. The staff was very nice. Toiletts very clean. Only negative point, it was quite loud in the room due to the street next to our room. You could hear the bus passing by quite often. But still I would highly recommend this hostel.
Best hostel I've ever stayed. Loved the view from my room and from the living room!
A great staff, a central location, great atmosphere.
Loved it. One of the best hostels I have ever stayed at, and I've stayed at 30+. Warm, comfy, clean and cozy. Great bar with good prices, great that the hostel sells fair trade drinks. Amazing location. Could have stayed there for weeks. 100% Recommend.
AMAZING location! The staff was lovely and gave really good suggestions and service. Their breakfast room/bar and common room were comfortable, spacious, and good for mingling. The rooms were nice overall. My only suggestions would be for more outlets in the rooms and non-push button showers. Other than that, everything was very nice!
Great location in the old part of town. Great building, bar has lots of atmosphere, rooms/bathroom are basic but clean and with awesome views. Would definitely stay here again.

So cozy and inviting! You can wake up and enjoy a coffee while staring at some of Ghent's beautiful buildings. They have Use-It maps which are the best map for young travellers. If you have never had one, seek them out! Staff were very friendly and played board games with us. Very clean and spacious rooms and washrooms.
Even though there was no kitchen facilities, staff were able to heat things up in microwave. Really great place. Wifi mostly worked and would def come back here to stay.
The location couldn't be any better. A lovely old building. It was quiet when we were there, the people we met were great and there are heaps of board games for when you're too tired to party at night (we were). The staff are nice. No kitchen just a microwave. Light sleepers: it's next to the tramline- but no problem for me. More expensive than some hostels but with the attractiveness of an old hotel, a good free breakfast (fruit, great juice, cereal, nice spreads and bread)
Great stay :-) The hotel is lovely, very typical and well situated, along the canal. The breakfast buffet was really good and the staff very friendly and helpful. Of course they speak Flemish and English, mais ils parlent aussi très bien le français despite they say their level of French is not very high ;)

Honestly the best hostel I've stayed at. the view from my bed over the canals was amazing, the staff went above and beyond, the bar area and living room areas were cool, good atmosphere, met loads of awesome people, the building itself looked amazing and the rooms were clean and comfortable. free computer use and breakfast included made the price to stay very cheap. wouldn't stay anywhere else.
All is great except that the address is wrong, so it took time from me to get to the actual address... A nice hostel.
We really enjoyed staying at Uppelink. The location is fantastic, the hostel is new, clean and quiet. The atmosphere is very relaxing with a great lounge and a nice selection of Belgian beers at the bar. The staff is also very nice and ready to help. Our warmest regards to the owner(s) and the staff, they're doing a great job!
