This hostel was very nice. It has new pine bed frames with comfortable mattresses and toilet paper you can flush! It was a good place to stay, especially since its in the university neighborhood. Also, the girl at the desk in the evenings has a very cute voice as we'll as being very helpful.

Nice (calm) hostel, with very friendly and helpful staff! Dorms are clean and there is enough room to move around. Nice garden to have breakfast or a drink in the night. In safe area full of nice bars and restaurants because of university. Stayed here 3 nights at the start of my stay and came back for my last. Would definitely recommend it! Guests age varies from 20 to 50, nice mixture. Good possibilities for tours from this place to Tortuguero, Rafting, volcanoes etc.

great place to stay in San Jose before and after heading to the beach. We used this as our base to catch our flights in and out of Costa Rica and it was a great, clean, comfortable place to stay, especially on the way back when you are exhausted from traveling and just want a nice place to sleep before heading home. breakfast was great and the staff was really kind and helpful. you have to have just the right touch for the showers, but its a great place to stay.

Good general facilities but our room was next to washing room and even though they did not use it, it was damaged by moisture and had this lovely smell of closed basement cleaning room.

Staff is nice and the place is really good. Stayed only one night but would have liked to stay more. Excellent value for money for backbaggers. I definitely recommend this place! Johanna from Finland

This hostel is amazing- thank you Jane and Kate I have been travelling for a year and stayed at the Urbano numerous times. It is really clean, the staff are all fab and super helpful, the beds are really comfortable, and the free pancake breakfast is great. I have stayed in soooo many hostels over the year and this has to be one of the best I have stayed in. The location is good, close to bars, shops and supermarket and the bus into the centre is cheap and really easy. Hope to see you again! Amy

The staff was great, they told us what bus to take to get down town and it was very clean and secure. Our schedule did not allow us to eat breakfast so I cannot comment of how it was. There were two computers with access to the internet but the internet was a bit slow. There was a big TV in the public area and a nice back yard. It was a bit noisy but we slept well. The staff also scheduled a reliable cab that was right on time to bring us to the airport.

This is a great place to stay and would recommend it to travellers looking for a place to stay when visiting San Jose. Staff are extremely helpful, good breakfast provided and within walking distance to restaurants, a mall and supermarkets.

Excellent hostal. Very nice and helpfull staff. We stayed in a 2 person bedroom. Everything was very clean, bedroom, common areas, incl. the bathroom and citchen. Very homely place, there is a nice tv room, dinner room and a kitchen. Location is not really at walking distance from the city center, but there are very regular and cheap buses going back and forth.

Stayed here based on other reviews. Great little hostel. Gets a bit loud in the mornings but I found that everywhere we stayed. Very clean, and the people were very helpful in helping us book our next part of our trip. Would stay here again for sure

Doesn't look like much on the outside but fantastic once inside. What sets this place apart is the staff, they could not be more helpful and cheerful. Good cheap restaurant just down the street. No problems with safety. Worth staying here just for the staff.

This is unlike most hostels: in fact, it's a home. It feels nothing like most hostels I have ever stayed in. The energy, vibrations, warmth, hospitality, all mix together to create this magic environment where all feel at home. The staff has as much to with that magic as does the mix of the house and the architecture.

I checked in late at night and left early the next morning, so I did not see much of the surrounding neighborhood. The staff were super helpful. They helped me get a taxi from the airport and figure out which bus station and bus I needed to take to get to my final destination. The hostel is very clean. Each bunk bed has two large wooden cabinets underneath it, and locks for these cabinets are complimentary, so you can lock up all of your stuff right under the bed you sleep on. Great idea!

Staff were very helpful and welcoming. Asked for an airport pick up, but they said I didn't give them the flight details, but they were in the email subject line (i was trying to be very clear). I got a taxi and this was no big issue for me. The hostel felt safe, and there were a few very lively bars around, as it is the university district.

Very friendly staff and nice hostel. The only downside is its a little bit of a walk from downtown, but a short bus ride is all you need :)

I really enjoyed the upstairs room my husband and I were in but the room next to the laundry had a musty odor and the shower didin't drain properly. The staff was amazing and helpful and they even invited us to their Christmas Eve dinner when we arrived late. They helped get taxi transport and print boarding passes - even let me borrow a cell phone to use the alarm to wake ourselves for the the 4:15am taxi pick up!
