I enjoyed my stay here. The girls operating from the coffee shop downstairs were helpful and welcoming. The hostel is 5 minutes walk from Amsterdam Central on a major street so it was easy to find. The hostel has a good standard of cleanliness and the beds were comfortable. Would stay again.

I had read the review on this hostel before going and it was given a bad review saying it was discusting to stay hear it had bed bugs but infect it was the compete opisit. The room was very clean, toilet and shower room was excellent it had hot water and was very good value for money. I'd definighy go back and stay again well the trip is already planned for November 2013

Well the perk of the place is its location. And from there - you get what you pay for. We expected a modest accommodation, but not that modest. The double room was like 7 sq.m. And the interior has definitely seen some better days. Of course it must be taken into account that the overall prices of housing in Amsterdam are ridiculously high and it was the cheapest place in the city centre.

There were a lot of graffiti in our room. The stairs are quite crazy and you won't know until you see it for yourself. The location is great--near all the sites and places to eat. There is a coffee shop right below and that, to me is my favorite part. Cheap, but you get what you pay for.

I've stayed in many hostels all over the world, but this one was really dirty and very expensive for what we got. The only good thing was the location

It was about what I expected for the money (cheap+good location) my biggest problem was one member of the staff who was extremely rude, and not just to me. I spent one week there and in that time, just from coming and going I overheard him being rude to 3 other people and heard another person complaining about him to another staff member. To me this is unacceptable. And it is to bad because the rest of the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Hostel Utopia was better than what we expected. The shower was cleaned daily. The room was very clean when we checked in. The bathroom was quite dodgy though and the entire place smelt of weed. But what else would you expect from a hostel in Amsterdam. Overall, we thought it was a great hostel and would recommend it to others. ((there was a mouse in our room, but it only ate the food in bags...so we moved the food to the sink and nothing was eaten there.))

the shared bathroom was not up to date. i found a dead mouse in the bottom of our trashcan after it started smelling really bad in the room. we had a room for 3 that was miniscule. location is good the coffeeshop which is also the reception was original and the poeple working there seemed cool.
