The staff were very professional and helpful. They asked repeatedly if there was anything I needed. The location is perfect, only 5 mins from the Dam and 10 mins from Centraal Station. The stairs can be tough, but it is Amsterdam. I will stay again.

The staff, value and location are what makes the Utopia. Amanda was our first contact by phone and was great from the first moment we spoke to her until checkout. Same with Nelson and the manager Idgie ( may have spelled that name wrong. Stay away if possible from private room 2. It has a private bath but desperately needs upgrade and paint. Room 3 is better even with shared shower. Great value for the area but very bare bones. Again the staff really made our stay.

Perfect location. Very close to Central Station, Red Light District, and trams that can take you to the Heineken Brewery, Van Gogh Museum, and anywhere else. The coffee shop underneath is really nice (and convenient), and the staff were all very friendly, helpful, and had a lot of character. Cleanliness was average - Not the cleanest, not the dirtiest. The only rude thing was they would not store our luggage for us in the morning, not even for extra money. They told us to get a storage locker.

Great small room in the roof! Good fun!

Why do the beds(matresses and covers) and the wall have to be left so dirty? It doesn't cost much to exchange that stuff sometimes but it changes a lot. FInding beatles in the beds didn't actually improve the impression

It's nice if you just want a bed to sleep in, but there's no kitchen. There is a coffee shop downstairs, though, which can be convenient. Downtown area is not too far a walk in any direction, and there's a supermarket down the street. The main station is 10 minutes away on foot. No common area aside from the coffee shop. The stairs are VERY steep, so be careful. Acceptable overall, but could be improved.

In my opinion, i saw a lot of people saying really bad things about this hostel, but when i arrived there i was positively surprised. As you can imagine it isn't the best place to stay in Amesterdam but with this price i wouldn't expect better than this. I didn't see mouses (it's important :) ) and everyday there was a woman cleaning the rooms. I stayed in a double room, it is very small but for me it was fair for the price and the location.

Absolutely disgusting. I've stayed in hostels all over Europe and have never came across such a dump! We lasted 5 minutes before we left, I was in tears at the thought of staying in that hole. The stairs are a death trap, the place is filthy, the toilet is rusty and "dirty" and the place is tiny. We left immediately, we had to pay for the first night but I'd rather have slept in the street. DO NOT book this dump at any costs. I am going to complain to hostelworld for advertising this hole.
