The staff sounded like they didn't want to help or had any interest. They really could be more friendly and learn to smile.

Great hostel. Everyone gets a small safe, own plug and nightlight above their bed. very new and clean. staff was freindly and helpful. breakfast has a variety of breads, fruit, coffee, juice, and sandwhich meat for lunch later on. about 1.5 mles (~35 min walk) from big sites like the central station, red light district, and dam square, but we loved the walk along the canals. When we were tired the tram dropped us off righy outside. Right next to rij museum and iamsterdam sign. Loved our stay

Great location, very close to the Van Gogh museum and the drinking/restaurant area of leidseplein and an easy 10 minute tram ride from Amsterdam Centraal, rooms are good, showers are amazing, and while the atmosphere itself wasn't a party, it was very relaxed, and I had no trouble finding people to go out with.

The woman working at the reception was passive and unfriendly whenever I needed to ask something. Upon arrival I was given my key card and that was all.... no explanation about the facilities in the hostel or the main sites of Amsterdam. Disappointing service and a shame that breakfast was not included for the price. That being said, the dorm was clean and my dorm mates were friendly. It was also nice to have a small personal safe in the dorm to put valuables.

There was a very small lockbox in my room that wouldn't fit my camera or laptops. When I asked at the front desk, they said they didn't have any lockers, either, so I didn't feel that my belongings were safe.

Very clean and bright, comfy beds, lockers in the rooms, secure luggage storage, wi-fi in the rooms, and excellent showers! I didn't have the breakfast but my roommates told me it was great and worth the price. It is a little bit noisy in the mornings if you are the kind of person who sleeps in late, because there is a school very close by, but the location is great! Definitely worth it.

Hostel was really nice - one of the best I've stayed in. Converted from a hotel or possibly also a hotel so it's really nice. Bit pricy and a bit out of the way but worth it.

The room is good if you're traveling in a group. There's only 1 bathroom for a room of 8 people. It wasn't really a problem for me as I was an early riser but you would have to wake up early or wait your turn to use the bathroom. I find the room to be quite dusty. Otherwise, everything is good.

Hostel has a tv in the room , awesome ! The shower kept flooding the floor , they would leave us without toilet paper with six in a room .. They would change our towels when I was told the cleaners should not be doing that ,but they would forget to replace them like twice in one week that I stayed there ..I saw them wiping things down with bath towels ,where's the disinfectant ? The floor under my bed was full of dust then they finally vacuumed it whilst I was in the room the day before I le

My experience at the Van Gogh was good. However, having the bathroom en suite was bit awkward, gross, and annoying because of the queue and the smells.

The staff always seemed grumpy and too busy on facebook to want to help the guests. The rooms were extremely nice and were beyond my expectations. They changed their name to Hotel Van Gogh so I kept walking in circles looking for the hostel until I went in to ask. For some reason our room was dusty by the end of the day EVERY day. However everything else was really clean. I liked that each bed had its own light and outlet. The shower was amazing! I will definitely stay here again.

The rooms were great and my stay was pleasant. However, the asian receptionist who checked us in was very rude to us, he made us feel very uncomfortable and annoyed. It seemed like he was not very happy to be working with people. Good hostel just terrible staff.

The staff was really horrible. There is an oriental guy, very unpolite and annoying, that should work in a mine if he wants to behave like that. And the floor of the hostel looks like is made of paperboard....

Security for food was poor. Our food was taken from us from the guest fridge. The room and bathroom were really nice. Resembled a hotel. Excellent location. Right next to the Van Gogh museum, the "I Amsterdam" sign, and Leidesplein!

We only stayed one night but the hostel was great!! We booked a 6 bed dorm and upon arrival they gave us an 8 bed but they made up for it with a complimentary breakfast. Hair dryer in the bathroom!! Very modern designed dorms.

Staff is competent but not exactly "warm". Lobby feels official like a hotel. No room number on our door was a bit confusing. Bed labels were hard to read as well. Rooms are efficiently cramped (expected for the low price) showers were delightfully spacious and the individual safes are a really nice addition. Our bathroom did not have hand soap (expected) or a floor towel/bath mat (not exactly expected, but the floors are very water-prone and a towel is needed. The bed and towel were clean!
