Hostel manager has been rude.

Fantastic! The location was the best, near tram and bus stops that took you straight to the city center, and a 5 minute walk from the biggest museums (van Gogh, Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk...). The staff was great, really really helpful and friendly. Overall nice facilities and comfy bedrooms. We went to a nearby bakery to get breakfast, but they serve an all you can eat type for 5 euros. Definitely coming back!

Great place, loved it! A bit strange with the entrance in the middle of a school playground. Location is good, not in the city center but close to the museum, and with some really great placed to eat. Some of the staff were really friendly and helpful, some were not. All in all a good place to stay, but not to be social and meet people.

Hostel was very clean. They provided free towels and there was lots of space in my 8-bed room. The lack of the bar is my only complaint. Once my friends had left, it was difficult for me to meet others.

Staff are and helpful

Solid hostel - some staff a bit stuck up but can always look past that. Good location, clean and like a hotel.

Really nice spacious rooms with comfy beds, beautiful bathroom and secure safes for each persons valuables. Really well located in a nice district close to all the museums and pretty park nearby with superMarket close by too. Shame about lack of kitchen but still very good hostel.

Fantastic place, nicer than most hotels I've stayed at.

The location and staff are perfect. I just hope there could be a kitchen for us to cook... After all, this is a lovely hostel and if I visit Amsterdam again, I would be pleased to live here again.

Felt more like a hotel than a hostel. The toilet and shower are together in the bathroom. makes it hard in the morning. Was very clean, always got new sheets and towel. Easy to access the tram, and supermarket close, but there isn't a kitchen. overall had a good time here.

Very clean and nice facilities, almost like a hotel. Not an ideal place for solo travelers due to the cold atmosphere and lack of common area. Breakfast was really good even though you had to pay for it. Need more space for guests to store food. Should be allowed to use kitchen space. There was a safe for each person in the room, which was great. Safe location and real easy access to the tram/buses.

This is not a real hostel. They're more like a hotel that decided to put a bunch of bunkbeds in the room. So, there's no kitchen to cook and the staff is not really friendly (except for the Swiss girl, who was lovely). No lockers in the room, just a small safe.

A bit Cold in the lobby, but great breakfast buffet at a reasonable price!

This is the best hostel I have ever been. 30seconds to Van Gogh Musuem and tram station. sites can be arrived at by walking. breakfast is very good. room and bed are all good.

This was a pretty good hostel. Private keyed entry lock boxes for each bed was a plus. Breakfast was reasonable at 5 Euro and offered a good selection. Customer service varied depending on the person sitting behind the desk, nobody in particular was outstanding. Location was good for the museums which lie outside of the city center. One bathroom for each shared room caused some waiting for the shower. Not bad.

Great place! Stayed there for about 4 nights, and couldn't have been happier about the location and atmosphere.

Very clean and well kept hostel. I stayed in an 8 person dorm and they had safes as well as clean towels each day for everybody in the room. The breakfast was not bad for 5 euro. Location next to the museums is nice, but its a bit of a walk to get to the downtown area. Overall a great hostel for the money!

I found it somewhat hard to meet people here because there isn't much of a lounge area. However, that being said, it is an AMAZINGLY clean hostel. It used to be a hotel so they're the nicest bathrooms I've ever seen. And the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast doesn't come with it, so I wouldn't recommend it because it wasn't anything special.

Everything was terrific. As an "older" adult, I had never stayed in a hostel, but I found it to be a rewarding experience that I would do again.

We had a great time at Hostel Van Gogh. Originally a hotel, it has the atmosphere of one, however also has the modern facilities and comfortable rooms of a modern hotel. The breakfast was definitely worth the money, the people were very friendly, and the location was awesome, just a block from the Van Gogh Museum, one more to the Rijksmuseum and iamsterdam sign. A little on the expensive side, but definitely worth it if you want something a bit nicer, it's worth the money.
