One of the nicest hostels I have ever stayed at. They clean your room daily and prepare breakfast for you; a real nice surprise. The neighbourhood is alright and you are a 5 minute walk to the waterfront.

Villa Carolina is a small family-run hotel rather than a hostel. It's a cheap taxi ride from the bus terminal and a 10 min walk to the Cathedral. It's also a short walk to the beach. The colonial style building is behind the family's home and set back away from the road in a lovely garden with a pool. The entrance is a big open plan space where breakfast is served. The room was clean and spacious with an en-suite bathroom. The woman who owns it was so helpful and gave us lots of advice on the area

Our entire stay at Villa Carolina was very enjoyable. The price was very reasonable, and the service was better than I would expect from an expensive hotel. All the facilities were clean and spacious. Our only difficulty was finding the place, as many locals were very willing to point us in the right direction, but did not actually recognize the address or name. In hindsight, we should have just taken a cab from the bus station...

I had a great stay at Villa Carolina - a charming hostel in the middle of Puerto Plata. It is well-located: close to several restaurants and groceries/markets, the malecon/beach is a ten-minute walk. There is a nice garden area in which to relax, the premises are clean and well-maintained and the folks at the hostel are very nice and accommodating. A special thank you to Francia who took very good care of me for the few days that I was there.

My parents and I stayed here for 2 nights in mid-Feb and thoroughly enjoyed it. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Located near Metro Bus, supermarkets and about 3/4 mile away from central park it was convenient for walking around the city. The 3 bed room was very spacious and clean. We cooked in the kitchen and had good breakfasts each morning (great fruit plate).

I travel the world and this is the best hostel I have ever stayed at. Very clean, private locked rooms. Amazing continental breakfast. Location is in the middle of downtown next to hospital, supermarket, ocean, and shopping district. Staff gives a family atmosphere that is very inviting. Loved this place!!!
