Really liked this hostel- location on the main square is outstanding, (some of the private rooms have balconettes that open up onto the square). Breakfast was excellent, terrace area was really nice, staff were really helpful. Great! Would definitely recommend. Nice to be in a dorm with no bunks too :)

Great central location in Merida. The buffet breakfast is good, beds are decent and some nice open common areas. Wifi works but can be very slow. Male bathroom is not so good but does the job. I would stay there again if I was in Merida.

Hostel Zócalo is utterly fantastic: clean; featuring a well-equipped kitchen and nice semi-open hang-out area perfect for both socializing and introverting; the staff is friendly and helpful; they have their own lavanderia that makes the laundry for you (for a small fee); and the breakfast is unbeatable (coffee, tea, omelete, wholegrain bread, cereal and a wide range of fruits). definitely recommended!

An interesting hostel. The breakfasts were great. The toilets had shower curtains covering them instead of doors. Thankfully there are separate bathrooms for men and women.

I was in a F-dorm (8 beds-no bunk), comfy beds, spacious. Unbeatable location. Old colonial fresh painted building, very quiet, big common spaces, very high ceilings, very clean all day long, soap and toilet paper never missing. Huge lockers, wifi, 1 computer, hot showers and wc never crowded. Free towels and water dispenser, very good cooking facilities, HUGE BREAKFAST included ! Good place for socializing esp. during breakfast, Very friendly staff and owner. Best kept secret in Mexico !

I've had some good breakfasts in Mexico but this topped them all by far! I'd stay there for the breakfast alone - I'd go to be eager to get up to eat it! Room was small-ish but very clean, bathrooms where excellent although lacking hot water one day. Staff gave us loads of fruit on the way out which was a welcome surprise. Would definitely recommend this place. The excellent location is a bonus rather than the selling point (and how often do you hear that??)

This hostel has the best breakfast I've had in Mexico. The hostel is very pretty and the bedrooms are fine. However it is a shame that the staff (owners?) were always grumpy!

Great location and friendly staff (although one staff member practically chased after us to make sure we were checking out by 12pm, even though we knew this and had paid in full). Great outdoor setting in which to chill out and/or have some of their amazing breakfast selection. Rooms were had really thin walls and were really noisey - we had a serious snorer sleeping in a hammock just outside our door! And the cold showers at any time of the day were a bit disappointing. But on the whole, great!

The staff at this hostel are the most unhelpful staff I have ever come across. The guy behind the desk actually made the place less pleasant with his poor/uninterested attitude. The place would be so much better if they had staff that actually showed some sort of interest / cared about their guests. The room was clean & the breakfast was good. Good location.

The private rooms are comfortable and clean. Wifi is good, but only works upstairs near the kitchen. The place is easy to find, friendly and views from the roof are a nice addition. Breakfast is amazing and very filling.

We stayed in a triple room, but there is only one small table in the room. It would be better if there is more. It doesn't need to be big or fancy, but sometimes we need spaces to arrange/put our luggage/stuff.

This hostel is in a great location and has great breakfasts! I had a private room which was clean and fairly spacious. The dorm rooms don't have a door on them but there are HUGE lockers which will hold at least two backpacks so security is pretty good. Wifi is good, though on the slow side, probably because so many people were using it. This is the downside to this place, when I was there most people weren't socialising, they were sat on their phones. I didn't warm to Merida personally
