Merida is a hot city. This 500yr old colonial building has very tall ceilings to allow a healthy airflow through to keep you cool on the hottest days. The breakfast is worth it since it's difficult/takes alot of time to find the food to cook for yourself in the city. In short: 1-Location is great (next to cathedral square/art museums) 2-Clean 3-Beautiful architecture 4-Nice/quiet staff 5-Easy to meet travellers

Hi: When I arrived at Hostel Zocalo, they had no record of my registration. I was told that the guy who handled reservations was on vacation. Secondly, what you at Hostelworld.com said would cost me 130 pesos per night, was listed on Hostel zocalo's notice board for 340 pesos per night. I argued with the "receptionist" for a while. He had no respect nor regard for the printout of my reservation that you emailed to me. I have more complaints but this space is giving me only 1more character space.

Really nice hostel. The breakfast is awesome and really worth the 30 pesos you pay for it. The best location in the city and beautiful building that the hostel is in. Clean, nice beds and nice staff! Internet is superfast also.

Great location. The breakfast for 30 pesos was great. the zocola side rooms were pretty noisy and warm as the fans didnt work but the other room with the ensuite was very good

Merida is extremely hot city, because of lots of hallways is breezy, which helps a lot to get cool. Service is great, lady's making food in the morning, big selection of food with respect is only hostel. All the reccomendations.

Helpful staff, very good location, showers ok. People (guests) were a bit unsociable... Best breakfast ever! Lots of fruit, milk, coffee, cereal, yogurt, bread... and Jairo makes also amazing pancakes and omeletes.

It says on this website breakfast is included free but when we got there they wanted to charge us. You should take that off the website. When you add the breakfast fee to the price the hostel is not cheap

Beautiful house, great location, powerful ceiling fans that effectively fight the lack of A/C, friendly helpful staff, and a fantastic breakfast. Now, if only something could be done about the communal bathrooms. Never had hot water in the shower the three days we were there (thankfully not an issue in this climate), shower doors falling apart, toilet stalls have shower curtains. Once you get over the bathroom situation though, this is an EXCELLENT hostel and well worth the inconveniences.

The breakfast is great and completely worth the price! And the staff is really friendly and helpful. The hostel is located right in the middle of the main plaza, there's a ton of museums, art galleries, shops and historical buildings in the main plaza.

Great hostel, superb location, amazing staff, best breakfast ever for a hostel. Extended our planned stay and would definitely come back again. The nice colonial building is already a bit aged but this is part of the atmosphere. Only drawback: not always hot showers.

Perfect location - right in the middle of it all off the main Zocalo. The all you can eat provided breakfast was delicious - yougurt, crepes, eggs, fruit, bread - amazing! The private room we stayed in was fine but pretty small and without windows - could get a bit stuffy in the heat. The access to the girls bathroom as well was strange - you had to walk through a dorm room to get to it. I felt sorry for the people in the dorm having people walk through the room all night. Other then that great.
