The Hostel was great, the staff was very friendly and helpful. However, my room had walls which needed to be repaired. Nothing major, there was humidity and some of the plaster was falling. Something that can easily be fixed. Perhaps by the time you read this it has already been taken care of.

It's a nice place to stay, your in the middle of the old towm, busstation isn't very far so you can make trips to the beach, (Progresso), see the flamingo's in Celestun (amazing) and you can visit musea.

This was the best hostel we've ever been to. Reasons: - Very nice staff, always helpfull we could even borrow the boss' ipad. - The breakfast is wonderful, even better than the hotels we've been to. - The location, on the main square is extraordinary. Inside is calm, outside you have ambiance. When we arrived they proposed us to go to their other new hostel in Progreso, at the sea. That hostel is not yet finished, but has the same character, breakfast, ... It will also be a superhostel.

Hostel Zocalo was a really great place to stay. The location was ideal, the rooms were clean, the staff was very friendly and accomodating, and the free morning breakfast was the best hostel breakfast I have ever had. They actually cook and clean for you. I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone traveling to Merida.

Was an wonderful place. Nice location, just in the middle of a beautiful city, absolutely secure. The hostel is very clean and the cost is very fine. Also, they have an amazing staff that is always there for helping you and making you feel comfortable.

Superb breakfast buffe!!! Best so far on our 4 month trip. Big and good kitchen to cook your food! Our private room wasn't a real room. It was very tiny.

The best thing about this hostel was the location and the price was accessible. However, the staff was quite grumpy and the room that we got didn't really fulfill our expectations (pics on the webpage). The bed sheets had holes and were stained. Taking a shower turn out to be quite an adventure (the temperature constantly changing from extreme boiling hot to freezing cold. Breakfast was nice and cozy (they prepare crepes and omelets straight on your plate :))

Hostal Zocalo really is the best hostel, we\'ve ever been to! It\'s located directly on the main plaza of Merida in an old colonial-era building(and there is no other accomodation in this location!), and if you\'re lucky you even get a balcony with plaza-view! The bathroom is shared, and well, not always sooo clean, and also not sooo beautiful, but forget about this! The FREE breakfast includes everything you wish and everybody sits around one big table - it\'s a really good place!

During my 30-day trip in Mexico, this hostel is the only one that I never had a thought of staying longer. In a very nice location though, it made me felt like doing \"business\" with them instead of living in a hostel. The staffs were the coldest ones I\'ve ever met, and the facility is poor. We asked for not-working hot water, they didn\'t give us a sign of reply when it fixed. I would say this is the worst hostel/hotel I\'ve ever stayed.

The only thing I did not appreciate was the tolerance for smokers, who were allowed to smoke inside the premises.

I think they should have more facilities for locking the luggage. There were few lockers in the common area and you have to bring your own lock. The dorm where I stayed had no key since it was on the way to the common bathroom, therefore there was always traffic of people in the room.

The breakfast is really nice. There are many kinds of fruits and hot omelette! The location is so nice!! The only disadvantage is that the air in our room is not circulating since we live in the basement

Excellenty located on the Zócalo (main plaza) and with very helpful and friendly staff. They offer a cheap laundry service and wifi, but you have to pay to use a computer if you're not travelling with an iPad, laptop, whatever, like most people seem to do these days. The breakfast is outstanding and probably the best I've ever had in a hostel. Good value for money.

best breakfast in a hostel ever!!!!! i really really love it. but if u can't sleep in noise, ask them for a room not along side the street. the 5 ppl in my group all failed to fall in asleep the first night there but fortunately they changed us to a quite one the next day. Oscar is especially helpful and we thank a lot to him.
