Nice hostel. It's very close to Gaslight district but in still a quieter area. The room I stayed in was getting warm despite of the fan. But it seemed that this room gets very cold in the winter, so it might be because it's surrounded by other buildings and the walls are not isolated. The hostel has plenty of bathrooms and is very clean (kitchen excluded). The lobby which is also the shared space with PC is next door in different apartment. This is very spacious and good to hangout or relax.

Staff are really friendly. The location is pretty good as its in the gas lamp district and is a bit set off the main area so it's not as loud. Breakfast is included which is pancakes and syrup but that's about it. Coffee is included and tea but they had no tea bags. Rooms are clean and the place has many bathrooms. The main downside is the common room area is separated from everything. Most are long term staying so not good for short term tourists, wanting to make friends or by themselves.

This place was great. It's within a few blocks to restaurants and bars, as well as the grocery store. Easy to get a bus, water taxi, or the rail system. The staff there were amazingly nice and fun to interact with. They were also really helpful when we had questions. I'd definitely stay there again!

Excellent stay, only for two nights though, as I was travelling through. Upon arriving the staff made me feel very much at home. Very big communal room with big tv with netflix, good internet. Also nice that every room has a seperate lock, so only the people sleeping in the room can get in. Staff was also very helpfull pointing out locations in the city to go to, shop, etc.

Hostel is really well located in the Gaslamp district and you can walk to everything. Staff are very friendly and the hostel has a great common area, however there are a few older types who seem to be staying at the hostel for extended periods which does detract from an otherwise fairly social atmosphere.

Feels like a home! :) James in the reception, the rest of the crew... - all truly warm and kind people, interested in getting to know you and including you into "the family". Unique atmosphere! Don't let the dark reception area scare you off- the cozy kitchen upstairs is where it all happens (starting every morning with the long, wonderful pancake breakfast :)

The Staff I very nice and friendly. And the rooms are pretty and clean. I really enjoyed the weekend I stayed at this hostel and would choose it again the next time I stay at San Diego!

Everyone was very friendly, including us in all the activities straight away! The bathrooms were beautifully done, and the kitchen was good. The manager and the rest of the staff were very helpful and ensured we enjoyed our stay, making us feel very welcome. We even returned for a night we enjoyed it that much!

The owner tried to hustle me and my friends on money. She wanted us to pay for the last bed in a 4-person dorm even tho we only were 3 people. She also tried to charge us extra since they made a fault with the rooms. The owner has a really poor character and was very impolite.

Owner Comment (Show)
The guests had approached several staff members, requesting that they not put a fourth person in their room. They proceeded to put their belongings on the fourth bunk which they did not pay for, ultimately turning a dorm room into their private room without paying for it. It is a reasonable request for any business manager/owner to politely request compensation.
