More like point Lameo. stayed on a tuesday - average age of guest was 40 years. The hostel has a small children's play area, and does not allow alcohol on the premises. the main drag (Newport) features many homeless people, but does have a lot of bars. Recommend staying a Pacific Beach, or downtown (Gaslamp).

layout of hostel is the best i've ever known, very clean, excellent real kitchen and laundry for 75cents. not much going on there though, can get a bus into town easily but becareful the 923 doesnt run from greyhound on weekends you have to take 3 buses so buy a day card $5

Very very nice, relaxing and quiet! Staff could do with more smiling (the boys, not the girls). It's 30 min walk from the beach as well, you need a car or loads of time to travel around... Overall, very cosy and pleasant though! :-)

By far and away the best hostel I have ever stayed in. Great character, comfortable beds and well placed for the beach and buses downtown

Absolutely great hostel with little blemishes. Very clean but with some ants in the room. Very quiet but in the entry lane of the airport. Free breakfast, free lockers in rooms, 10 min to the beach, next to a supermarket. One of the best atmospheres. Absolutely recommandable

Really the best hostel I've ever stayed in! It is close to the beach and the hostel provides beach equipment (parasols, boogyboards, beach towels etc) for free. Nice pancake (and other stuff) breakfast. There is a very nice outside area with a ping pong table.
