Hostels del Mar was a great place to spend a relaxing 4 days by the beach. Pato and Nacho were great hosts and put on a hell of a asada. Best meat I have had so far in Argentina. I have one complaint and that was upon checkout. The description on hostelworld.com said stay 3 days and the 4th is free. When checking out I was charged for 4 nights as well as 40 pesos for the asada, which I had already paid for, and was charged full price even though I put down a 10% deposit when I booked my stay.

Please and by all means dont get the wrong idea, we made of course a mistake, an unpleasent one. It truely never crossed our minds to over charge you. If by any chance you happen to come back, you or a friend of yours, we can offer you 2 free nights and a free "asado". If you're not coming back to Mar del Plata anytime soon, please send us a private message with a bank account number or directions on where & how to send the amount of money we owe you. we read the comments on hostelworld about this hostel and booked it. But what we've found was: - incredibly small rooms - dirty roomates - only 2 and very dirty bathrooms. from the one with a douche the water was coming out to the upper hall till the room entrance but nobody seemed to care and therefore there was constantly water on the stairs and in the room - cucarachas! - garbage in the garden - dog hair everywhere - bread for breakfast - very loud until 2 AM!

Hi: We consider customers opinion an important and essential tool & source of information for our continous grow and development. But when we came across this review, we just couldnt believe what's descripted inside the content. For example, there are 4 bathrooms in the hostel, not 2. Still, Im not gonna go through all the review trying to valid our point. I've asked the hostel staff to inquire for personal or unknown issues of any type, but no one remembers any kind of problem that could've promoted such comment. Still, even though we strongly disagree, thank you for highlighting this issue, we are sorry to hear you were unsatisfied and through your feedback we will endeavour to improve our service. The hostel is ok for the price, you can ask the stuff for taking surfing classes, and they are nice and friendly. Its something for somebody who wants to have a cheap stay and does not too much care about where you stay. The beds are clean and the room is ok. The hostel in general is average, not bad, not spectacular.

The owner is a really nice and relaxed surfer guy. They have a parrot and a dog. Breakfast starts from 9 o'clock, 9:30 or 10 on weekends. Cleanliness is poor. Bathrooms are a bit smelly.

Great hostel, great location. Breakfast should be more than bread. The larger bathroom upstairs needs a better shower head. Everything else wonderful. Great people, very nice!
