Was dithering over which of the umpteen hostels in Otavalo to stay in, but i´m so glad i chose this one! It´s a little outside town- a 10 minute walk, 25 cent camionetta or $3 taxi. Or there´s a jolly 50 minute walk downhill along a stream to get into town. The hostel really is as stunning as it looks on the website- the houses are colourful and the views are ridiculous! There´s a nifty table tennis, a tennis court and lots more to do, as well as Otavalo on the doorstep!

This hostel was in a really cool and nearly picteresque location, just outside of the city. Only a 3 dollar cab ride to the center. A number of beautiful buildings housed the beds, and another for the kitchen area. The staff was extremely pleasant and polite, willing to make you individual pots of coffee while supplying medialunas and delicious spreads. My only negative is that I thought it was a bit expensive considering proximity from town but otherwise I had a great stay.

A lovely hostel on hills with wonderful views! Cute little cottages with nice decoration and plenty of dvds. This place is for relaxing and enjoying. If your plan is to spend more time in the town, Rose Cottage might not be the place for you, ´cause it really is high up in the hill and the walk (especially) uphill is rough. Taxis cost 3-4 dollars one way. Breakfast consist coffee/tea, two pieces of bread and a juice. Dorms have kitchen, but no working stove. Still, a very lovely place be in!
