Good location, but poor wi-fi in my room. A bit pricey for the value, but not too bad considering it was holiday time ($125 per night, private bedroom for two with shared bathroom). Quiet hotel, which was not bad. Would stay there again, only paying less.

Great little hotel on east side. Really close to subway shared bathrooms were really clean all the time, hidden hotel tax was unexpected though. But all in all a great place to stay.

In NYC for a med school interview. If you are looking for just a cheap room to crash at, this is the place. Great location, clean bathrooms, and quiet.

Overall a great budget hotel in a convenient location - the guy with the long hair at reception desk was great. It's not the hotel's fault, but there are hidden taxes - like city tax and unit tax etc. that spiked up the final bill. Just so you'll be aware - it'll be the same everywhere in NYC.

The hotel is located in a very hectic area of NYC. Just three or four blocks away from Union Square, close to Chinatown, Soho, The Village. Staff is nice and the hotel always looks clean and safe.

We booked a 3-bed room and ended up in a room with only one single bed and one double bed. The price we ended up paying was 20% higher than the so-called "amount due at arrival" because the online price did not actually include taxes. Finally, the staff was bordering on rude and customers treated like an annoyance. To add to all this, during our last night heating pipes made so much noise it felt like a plumber was fixing the pipes during the whole night, needless to say we didn't sleep much.

This hotel is comfortable and quiet, very well located (close to Union Square). The shared bathroom are cleaned several times a day. James, at the reception, is perfect.

The hotel itself was very nice, on a quiet street across from a park. Couldn't ask for better on that account. My only complaint regards the absurd agreement written on the back of the registration card. It basically states that Hotel 17 can sue you for whatever it wants, but you agree beforehand to never defend yourself. I suspect it's legally indefensible, but the customer is left in the position of signing or being left on the street. Do all hotels in NYC claim this nonsense?

Hotel 17 is a great place to stay, it's clean and comfortable, the staff are friendly and helpful, the location is really terrific and the cost is decent. There isn't a lounge or common area to meet people, which would be nice, but it's easy to strike up a conversation. There are travelers from Europe, Canada, USA, Latin America, so there's a good mix of people from all over. I'm definitely making Hotel 17 my regular place to stay in the Big Apple.

Anti British sentiments and inappropriate comments made to Irish guests by member of staff. Shocking to be honest.
