always have a great stay here we were upgraded to a private room at no extra very friendly staff lift is slow but there are stairs and free breakfast 4 a22 a night cant go wrong

My stay at Hotel Discovery was pretty good. Pretty helpful staff, job search side of the staff I was a bit disapointed in though. I said in a 4 person dorm, pretty nice with good lockers. Wall a bit thin though. Kitchen was lacking and people didn't clean up after themselves. Over all a pretty good place though. Awesome trivia night though!

Very expensive for a private room! And the lift kept breaking down! Good stay over all. Staff were lovely.

Hotel Discovery is an old hostel run by a new company. They seem to be slowly updating everything since they took over a year ago, so I figure it can only get better. The staff was great and very helpful. The little cafe made good, cheap food. The internet is free, but slow (because everyone is on it). Location is good: on the edge of the CBD and just blocks from Queen Victoria Market. My bed was a bit old and concave, but otherwise the facilities were good. I'd probably stay here again.

Distinct lack of sockets. 4 sockets in a room of 16, with everyone having at least a phone, and most having laptops is irritating at best.

the best hostel ever ! atmosphere was great, staff was so much helpful and kind ! proper breakfast (most hostel say 'breakfast includud' but dont give it properly), and location is right next to the Queen Victoria Market, short walking distance to the City centre. Kitcken, bothroom, shower room and common area are all clean and well organized! loved staying there!

I had a wonderfull time at the hotel Discovery Australia, the staff were very nice and helpfull, the food was very good and fair priced. Was clean and in a good location. Deffinately stay again many thanks. Michael

the hostel was in a good location, not too far from the main tourist area....it was very party oriented so it would be good for young people looking to have a good time. The shower area was very nice, clean, and private, but the other bathroom facilities were very dirty. The rooms seemed clean enough and offered limited locker space to lock up valuables. The atmosphere of the hostel was very lively, fun, upbeat, and friendly, and there were plenty of activities provided by the hostel.

Really clean hostel, with really friendly and helpfull staff. Breakfast was awesome.

another staff member at the front desk would make things more enjoyable, check the beds every now and again as our one in the private room was ruined, one of the worst sleeps ive had in a hostel and ive been through alot of them.

There are no lockers in the rooms - 16bed dorms! And so you have to carry your important belongings with you all the time.

fantastic hostel if visiting the city briefly, Free wifi and breakfast, great beds too, one of the best hostels ive stayed in on my 22 months of world travelling & surfing the planet... definately be stopping there again. :-)

The rooms were a bit run down, but that's expected for the price. the facilities were good, and i would stay there again. Staff were very friendly and helpful

Very clean, only complaints are: Showering was horrible, went from scalding hot to freezing cold every couple of minutes. Drinking on the property is not allowed. I have never been to a backpackers where you risk eviction without refund for simply having a drink with friends. However the cafe had delicious food, the free breakfast was awesome, and the walking tour and pub crawl was pretty good. Great location, however not too close to very good nightlife.

Desk staff all were awesome. Good shower facilities. Wifi didn't work upstairs which is a little frustrating, but common in Hostels. Think it's great there is a cafe, travel desk and job seeker help for international visitors. Can see that upgrades are slowly happening, one room i stayed in didn't have lockers and the other one did. (Very important, lockers!) Lots of activities to keep it social. Big kitchen area (didn't use but facilities were great) and lots of storage space for food. Thanks!

Place was clean, staff were friendly, walk to everything. Good place for a Melbourne stay.

Nice hostel, its very big, not very welcoming. Really noisy at night. But good location
