The shower didn't drain at all which was kind of... troubling. The sheets had stains on them and one of our pillows kind of smelled like cheese. Was right next to the bus stop which was nice, but the area wasn't really anything to look at. Very very cheap place to stay though so I guess you get what you pay for.

The girl at the reception(think her name was Mara) was so helpful. Hotel is just 2 minute walk from town. Ok the curtains don't keep the light out and it's more a hostel than a hotel. Kitchen is in open air and well equipped. It's justgood value for what u pay.

Smal and simple hotel with private bathrooms in each room a little outside of La Fortuna. The centre is just max. 5 walking minutes way, so a really good value for money hostel. ANd you have a beautiful view from the common terrace on the mountains. Staff is helpful with plannung and booking - the volcano hike & hot springs we booked with them was really good. Rooms had fans and were ok, could be a little cleaner though.

I've was serviceable for the one night I was in Fortuna. I might spend a little more $ next time for a nicer property.

Hostel was very basic. It doesn't look very nice at first glance, but I was hard pressed to find a spec of dirt anywhere, the staff does a great job keeping it clean and tidy. Price was good. Rooms have good doors with locks.

Cheap but definitely alright. Staff was very friendly and tried to help with everything. We went for the volcano trip and the guide was really good and spoke with such a passion about the nature, flowers and the volcano itself. Very interesting!

The staff at the hostel were friendly and very helpful in organising tours. The location was also convenient (just a 5 minute walk from the La Fortuna bus terminal). We only stayed 1 night and the hostel and amenities were suitable for a short stay.

This was the first time I've ever stayed in a hostel, it was a decision made with the group of 5 I was traveling with. While I was terrified to see there was no tv in the room, this simple little place makes up with its friendliness and willingness to accommodate you and make you feel at home. Most of the rooms are private with bathrooms, everything is close, comfy beds, wi-fi, and best of all they have tons of tours available at the cheapest prices. Really cool little place.

We really liked our stay at hotel dorothy. The rooms, the kitchen, the shower are very nice and clean. The staff was helpful. There were not many guests so it was quite quite. Definitely worth the money!

Hotel Dorothy was a good place. Much like curious Dorothy in the wizard of Oz, it is a very curious place. It was clean enough and overall quiet. Nice view of the Arenal volcano from the rooms. Staff was somewhat helpful but you really had to hound them for info. No breakfast, but great location super close walk to anything you need in town. Decent place to stay I’d definitely stay here as it is great value for your money. I have no complaints.

Probably the best value for your money if you are stopping off in La Fortuna for a few days, we ended up booking a week which was far too long to stay there, but the staff is friendly, kitchen is good, rooms are good.

We were a little disappointed when we first arrived at the Hotel but made the best of it, especially after staff agreed to change our room after we made the request since the shower in the first room we were given was very mouldy. The only furniture in the room was a bed, so luggage has to remain on the floor. Good location just off the main street but a short walk away. Signs ask that guests be quiet after 10 pm but one night people were very noisy until 5 am.

Nice place, good value, not the most helpful staff with regard to tours and transportation booking, but overall a good place to stay.
Average. Not terrible, but not fantastic either. Staff: kind and helpful, but not really enthusiastic; no heart or passion for this place or the customers. Never said 'Welcome!' or 'Thank you for staying with us!'. Our room had the 'beautiful' view of all their rubbish (including a toilet bowl!) outside. I don't expect a view, but at least clean up your things so it's not visible, and plant some flowers or bushes so guests can open curtains and let light in. Common area lacks 'coziness'.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We needed information about LaFortuna sites and also about our next destination, MonteVerde. They were knowledgeable and took the time to help. Hotel Dorothy is within walking distance to downtown LaFortuna and yet far enough off the busy streets to have a quiet restful night. We would definitely recommend Hotel Dorothy to others. The shower was hot and awesome. Everything else was pretty good. All in all, it was a great place to pass the night.
