Had a single and it was a good price. I also was on the side of the building with a great view of Arenal outside my window. Decent people, but like a lot of places in C.R. if you\'re not booking excursions through them, the staff could really care less about you. They were in the process of revamping some of the rooms.

My girlfriend and I stayed here and had an amazing time! Place was really clean and comfortable, loved the touch with the folded towels. Also would recommend any of the tours, especially the volcano tour with Franklin, he made the visit for us, so knowledgeable and just excited to be in the place he loves-nature. What's more after a great fun day, canopying and rapelling, whilst at the thermal spas the time was perfect to ask my girlfriend to marry me!

Hotel Dorothy is an excellent option for a budget stay in La Fortuna. The location is about 10 - 15 minutes walk from the bus station, in a quiet neighborhood but yet not far from the main square. A spacious kitchen, pleasant open-air lounge, free fast internet connection, great staff, and a travel agency. Stayed in a twin room which was basic, but very comfortable. Beds with good thick mattresses.

This hostel is off the main drag in La Fortuna, which I was happy about, but its still less only a block or less to go to the grocery or any of the little downtown shops. It has a kitchen to use, which was great, and a computer with internet. It suited our purpose just fine. I wouldn't call the staff outgoing, but they were just fine. You can see Arenal from the hostel, but the thing I wish I had known before this journey is that it hasnt really done anything in almost 2 years! Boo.

Hotel Dorothy was not what I had expected. I took a lot of time and read lots of reviews and was disappointed. It was not very clean and wasn't worth it for the money. Some of the staff were great, others barely spoke english and one of them messed up one of our tours, which was quickly fixed. Location was good, walking distance to town, but away from the noise.

Rooms not much to look at but good, quiet location minutes from main strip and the telescope on the upper level aimed at volcano Arenal makes up for much!

Very friendly and helpful staff, as you find in Costa Rica in general. Very good location, walking (almost crawling) distance from La Fortuna city centre. Easy to get to, clean rooms, no problems at all. The wall inside the room could do with a lick of paint, but otherwise good value for money. More of a hostel atmosphere than hotel.

We got exactly what we expected. Friendly owners and a casual atmosphere. In a safe part of town with a convenient location, but the directions they give you are awful-make sure you cross the bridge near the center square and you can't miss it. The best part about this place was the tours we booked through them-we had amazing guides and experiences, and we wouldn't have had that if we had booked elsewhere. For $20 a night, not bad at all.

Friendly staff. Great location off the main strip. Quiet and has a great view of the volcano. The front desk lady helped us book the best day-trips around town. We did the ATV-ing, hot springs and Desafio Adventure Company white-water rafting and waterfall repelling. Do all of this if you can! We had a 4-person private room. Clean and enjoyable all around.

I did enjoy my stay, especially the view of the volcano. The room was big and there was hot water in the bathroom, which always count. It was short walking distance from centre and it was bit quieter. I would recommend it to anyone and if i would go back i would definitely stay there again.

Free internet, friendly staff, tour company on site, good location (a couple blocks from town so it was quiet), no safes. The owners have been improving the rooms and common spaces one area at a time. It is not a pristine place, but for the price of a single room with a private bathroom it was well worth it!
