Peter is great! Don't let the other reviews fool you.
Listen, this place is a little "rustic" and that may take a little getting used to. The main reason that YOU NEED TO STAY HERE, is the owner Peter. He is the most helpful guy ever. Missed your ferry? Peter will book you a charter plane. Lost in town? Pete will come get you. Need a shuttle? Petes got that too. You ask and he makes it happen and he'll make sure you STAY SAFE and thats the most important part.
The staff was ok, but laked a little amability. The hostel is in the middle of nowhere. There isn't much around and it's far from the balsa if you are going there just to take the balsa. But the owner has some "dels" and contacts that can help you not be extorted by taxi drivers and go diving. The hostel itself there is nothing to do and the wi-fi doesnt reach all the floors. So for the price, i would say you could get better places.
In a rougher part of a rough town, food and tours/shuttles a complete rip-off, disgusting kitchen and bathroom, very uncomfy bed and absolute 0 character about the place.
Stayed at this hostel twice- once before going to Roatan and once when coming back. The hostel itself is good- good food, decent beer prices. The owner was very accommodating; it was hard at first to gauge his personality but after we got to know him he was extremely nice and helpful- even took us to the bus station at 5 am. There really isnt anything to do outside of the hostel but the place has laundry facilities and a restaurant on site. Rooms were the best by far, it had AC and balcony!
