We had a great time at Hotel Encino... it is located only 1 block from "the Malecon" which is a sort of boardwalk in central Puerto Vallarta. It isnŽt particularly close to nicely sloped swimming beaches or the port but we enjoyed walking in the surf close to the hotel and shopping and enjoying the restaurants and bars/clubs on the boardwalk. The staff were friendly and helpful, even loaning us beach towels to use! Hotel had the perfect location right on the border of Zona Romantico and Centro Historico. It's not on the beach but just a few blocks away. The rooftop pool area overlooks the Rio Caule and has a partial view of the ocean. I found all the staff extremely friendly with the sole exception of the daytime reception guy.
