The Hotel is situated not far away from the center (even by walk). However rooms are quite tiny (twin room shared bathroom) and loud. The hotel charges additionally 15% for "city tax" - nowhere mentioned before. Breakfast is ok, personel ok as well.

Hotel Flipper offers cozy, compact rooms at cost-effective rates. There were a few issues: The young oriental people who run the hotel behave strangely. For example when you ask for the key they just give you a blank look and a delayed response. I don't know if they're shy or nervous or something else but it became annoying after a while. My suitcase was put in the store room but he just flung it in upside-down and all the stuff fell out. Also they don't tell you about the hidden costs such as breakfast, city tax and card fees.

The single room was tiny (6ft by 6ft) and the bed was 2ft wide and horrible to sleep on. Don't know how the other rooms were. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Most staff were helpful. Free wifi and a good selection of tourist brochures. Five minute walk from tram stop (Amstelkade on line 4). Not sure it all made up for the lack of sleep due to the bed, though. PS There is also a 5% sales tax added when you get to the hotel. Not sure if this is entirely legal, but be warned.
