Cockroaches were bad room mates. Found a couple of them were on my bed, when I woke up the next day. Made a complaint and after the housekeeping went on the offensive, at least 8 were killed. A few more were still seen, the following day.

The staff are friendly and helpful, but don't expect too much from the rooms. This hotel is a good place to get your head down for one night if you need to be close to Howrah Station, but there are cheaper, nicer and more sociable alternatives around Sudder St if you are looking for a base to explore Calcutta.
