We arrived Hotel Kranich at midnight, exhausted from a very long and tiresome journey in order to participate in a one*act olays festival . Our room was at the top floor with typical sloped roof and it was really cosy and clean, and definitely comfortable. The staff was very hospitable and friendly, and always ready to help (they even let us borrow their bedcovers for our play since we forgot to bring our prop from Turkey :)) We would love to stay there if we go to Heidelberg again.

The location is far from the touristic, more expensive old town area of Heidelberg. The walls are thin, and you hear everthing going on in the hallway and in rooms around you. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is a friendly bar next door, a wonderful bakery with fresh German baked goods, and a nice grocery just a few meters away from the front door. Breakfast at the hotel was plentiful, but you pay extra for breakfast. The rooms were clean. Free parking. Cautiously recommend.
