We thought the accomodations were fine and the food at the restaurant was good (we tend to be pretty critical of restaurant food and were quite surprised). The bed was very big & comfortable. There was a fridge in the room but it wasn't plugged in for use (why?). Outlets scarce (charged phones in the bathroom) but wasn't a problem for us. TV in the room with plenty of channels. We enjoyed our stay here.
The weakness of Maparaiso is really its surroundings. It is nearby the Children's Hospital, so the neighborhood doesn't feel like a place you can't walk around during the day, but it gets hairy at night. Get a room on an upper floor and you'll feel perfectly safe inside though--they secure the building very well (manned front desk, cameras, etc). Breakfast is included: hotdogs, juice/coffee, and some cornmeal pancakes. That said, the showers are really great.

Yes well what can I say about this cheap hotel except that it is a cheap hotel. I have stayed there before any times over the last 8 years - they attempted to upgrade the interior but really cut corners in many areas that require immediate attention. the locks on the doors to each room are of the cheapest quality I have ever seen - I had a real problem so complained - forcing a lock change - then the bathroom flooded after I showered and the list just keeps growing - lousy food in the café on th
