The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was small but it was also really inexpensive, so I was very happy. My biggest problem was finding the hotel the first time. Your directions need some work.

I'd say, you get what you pay. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and most of them speak decent English. The location is a bit remote. Close to a station though, so you can get quickly to most places. However, the neighbourhood is in quite bad shape and there is a constant smell of cold cigarette smoke in the streets as well as in the room. The facilities are a bit worn down. However, the staff gives their best to make your stay comfortable.

Not really a place for backpackers. In a very poor area of the city, with not much in the area. Staff was very friendly, but the entire building smelled like smoke and all the showers are located on the first floor

Good location, close to SpaWorld and several metro/train options. Free bike rentals. Japanese style bath. Good value for money.

Good location & the staffs are helpful. But the room is too small and the heater is too noisy. I had to turn it off during the sleeping time. But feel like cold...

The directions from Shin-imamiya station are incorrect. The rooms and shower rooms were quite ok.

This hostel was a brilliant choice for us. The dormitories are around half the price of any other in Osaka and the three nights we stayed in Mikado were absolutely excellent. Despite the location not being the greatest, the Nambu district is easily accessible by train/taxi. Furthermore, the hostel has an excellent FREE bike rental and we viewed the whole city from the saddle of these machines!! Staff were excellent, amenities were great. Fantastic stay!

Top 2 of our stay in Japan (totally 4 weeks). Great staff. Good kitchen and eating area, it was never crowded when we were there. The sauna and spa was also great to be in a hotel. Used i a lot. Free bicycle rental was great. We lived in a 4 people room and paid 1500 yen each (two people). Very good in general!

Loved this place. The staff is extremely welcoming and helpful, the facilities are awesome (there's a very nice sauna and free bike rental), the rooms are clean, and you can get fresh towels and sheets anytime free of charge. It's two minutes from the station and within walking distance from shopping mekka Namda. You get much more than you pay for.

Firstly, the price is great. You really get your money's worth at hotel Mikado. The facilities are good, they have a great shower room, and around 4 or 5 vending machines, plus free snacks in the lobby. There's free wifi and although the single rooms might seem small, they've got everything you need during your stay. But I really want to give props to the staff. They are really helpful, offer great company and the manager, Morikawa, is the coolest person! I had a great stay at Hotel Mikado.

Loved our stay there! Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. They even voluntarily offered to change my towel even though i haven't requested for it. The 4-bed rooms were cosy and the bed/pillow were extremely comfortable. We also enjoyed hanging out at the lounge area, where surprisingly there were many native Japanese. The location although slightly further away from the city centres like umeda and namba, the subway/JR line is right outside the hotel.

We had a great stay at Hotel Mikado: first of all it was great value for money, with bath access and many other small things that made our stay merrier (e.g. free bike rental, and good WiFi). The location is good - a good starting point for a walk to the city zoo, Hitachi tower area and Osaka down town. Helpful staff made our stay a breeze. The room was well equipped, although a bit crammed. We will definitely come again!

A great place to sleep for the night. Loved having my own (tiny) room all to myself. The building is old but they kept it pretty clean. I didn't do much here aside from sleep, so I didn't see the onsen, or any common areas aside from the one in the entrance, but it seemed lively and friendly enough. The neighborhood isn't great, and the distance from the downtown area made it hard to do much the one night I was there. But it's easy to hop on a train to the cool parts if you have time.

This hotel is located in a down-market area of Osaka, but it’s right next to the subway and train station so accessibility is no issue. The hectic entertainment district of Namba is within walking distance (15-20 minutes) , and you will find a lot of interesting shops on the way there. This area has a lot of cheap hotels and Mikado is not the cheapest one, but it does have a more welcoming character than some of the competition. Overall great value, cheaper than most hostels/dorms in Osaka.
