The best about this hotel is its location very close to the Plaza Independencia and close to many restaurants and bars as well as the Cuidad Vieja. Our room was ok, it was very clean. The staff is helpful and very kind but doesn't speak any English.

We had a great stay at Hotel Palacio and have returned twice to use this hotel as our Montevideo base. The hotel has a good location, handy for the old and new towns, without being in too shady an area. The staff were lovely and helpful. The 6th floor room with terrace was very sweet and provided a lovely view of sunset over the old town. The only downside is that breakfast is not included, but there are plenty of places nearby for morning food.

Lovely old hotel, well located. We stayed in a triple that was more of a flat with a bathroom, a twin and a single! TV with cable in each room, and adjoining balcony with views of the sea (just!) either side. Friendly owners with info on the town. No breakfast or kitchen - its not a hostel, but lovely bakery over the way for breakfast. Clean, comfy beds. Great value for money.

I had a good time at this hotel. It is very simple and old style. The staff is very nice and the rooms are clean and quiet. Very good location in the heart of the old city at Montevideo. Very close to bars and restaurants. They are quite small. The cost / benefit is very good. They have a place to park in front of the hotel, but is advisable to use the a private parking lot, very close by, that cost US$ 8,00 a day.

I stayed here with my girlfriend 2 nights, and the place was adorable to us.You can notice that the (mostly elderly) workers love their job and take it serious! Most importantly: the place is clean and everything works well. People working were also very professional and nice. Note that the breakfast is not included (but they also don't claim it is). It seems that to one side it can be noisy on saturday nights, but on our side we had no problems with any noise. Highly recommendable!

The location was great. The staff was VERY helpful even though some of the managers english was limited, we did fine. The rooms were very clean and quiet which, along with safety, are our top priorties. We would definitely stay there again. The best part is that at the end of the block (on the corner of 25 de Mayo) is the GREATEST bakery/deli/heavenly dessert store. We picked up goods from here and took them to the park for our meals or brought back pastries to have with our tea at the hotel.
