The perfect location of the hostel is a short walk from the train station and 5 minutes walk from the Galleria (David) the Duomo and Palazzo Vecchio. There is no air conditioning or fan in the room. Housekeeping is excellent within walking distance the best restaurant in the area (Rest Centre Poveri)
Simple and nice place for a short trip to Florence. The lady from the reception was very helpful!
We had a wonderful stay at Pensione Ottaviani. The staff was super friendly and helped us find our way around the city for the two days we were there. The location is wonderful, you're only minutes away from the Duomo and from the river and can easily walk anywhere you like. The place was extremely clean. It was very simple and old fashioned in decoration, but it felt tidy and welcoming. Even the shared bathrooms remained very clean all through the day. If in Florence again, I would return.

When we arrived there you wonder : it is a nice hostel for a price so low. Then you discover that wireless access isn't free, you also have to pay if you want to them to keep your luggage. The hostel is not too bad, not too good. But you really feel that the only thing the want is getting the more money out of you
Location and value is very good. Just a 5 minute walk from the main train statiom (S. M. N) and another 5 from the city center. Rooms are clean but staff could have been more cooperatif. Good for a night or two but not for a longer stay.
Humidity was very high especially in bathroom. Day shift staff was ok but night shift was a disaster. He harassed us with religious talking and accused us of not practising İslam.
This hostel is in a great location. The staff are unfriendly and made us feel awkward sat in the communal area as if we were invading their 'personal space'. We therefore felt like socializing in this space wasn't ok so didn't meet any people. our beds were a legs width apart which isn't really ok when sharing with strangers. There are only two toilets in the hostel meaning we were waiting for ages. The staff turned off the cold water machine meaning we could only get luke warm from the tap.
We wanted to spend two nights at Ottaviani. When booking we selected an arrival time of 2pm. We got there at 2:30pm and were told that the room wasn't ready yet. We were offered to spend our nights at a "partner hotel" around the corner, which we then did. We can't say much about Ottaviani, but the service seems poor and unreliable. The credit card machine was "broken" at the moment, we received no receipt of our cash payment and breakfast was not available either (due to "sickness").
Don't stay there! We booked a room for three persons and two nights. On arrival, we were told that we probably have to move to another hotel in the same street for the next night. On the next day, we were asked to leave the room and to move to the other hotel. Then the manager came and told us that we will stay in the same room for the next night. We lost about 2 hours through this and we didn't get any compensation. It is not worth the money, even though it is a cheap hotel!
Nice place but you have to pay 3 euro for internet.
Great location. Excellent place for backpackers on a budget, good value for your money.
i just stayed here for one night before i headed off to to Venice as i wanted to be close to the train station. the staff were friendly and helped where they could, the hostel itself is quite central but hard to find as down back roads (it was dark to be fair though) it wasn't very clean and i was given a pull out/camp bed although the other 2 in my dorm had normal looking bed, this confused me (it wasn't very comfy) i was told it was wheelchair friends, it wasn't, AT ALL.
Just an average stay, not very special and a bit boring.
This place is NOT in the city of Venice itself, but close to train station and buses. Staff are not that helpful and I wish there were a common area...only wifi at the reception area -_- Decent rooms and bathroom. Unfortunately, I came during a heat wave and it was really uncomfortable because there are only fans, but overall a decent facility. Atmosphere is not that great for meeting people.
They didn't have my name on the booking list although I had the booking reference, so the owner recommended another hotel to us. We were supposed to share room with others but he offered us a hotel so it's good but it took about 2 hours to settle this down because of other guests and phonecalls and so on, consequently causing problems on our schedule. And the offered hotel was the worst I've ever been. We even had a problem opening and locking the door.
Place was fine except the bathroom door was practically see through in the private room lol. Owner was also a bit flustered all the time but he was nice. Overall the room and bathroom was clean, and the location was great so it was good.
Close to the train station and a walk away from main attractions. Nice area. We got into our room (double, shared bathroom) even before check-in time. The room was clean and spacious and had a sink, a table, bedside tables, a closet, a mirror and a ceiling fan. Two bathrooms in our floor, which was enough. Wifi would have cost but it was down that day (Sunday, no-one to fix it then). Staff was professional, not especially warm.
