Hotel Potala Reviews

If you want to be in the heart of thamel, this is your place. When the sun sets your room is bombarded with music and revalry from 4 different surrounding bars. I found a roach in my bed in my last night, but definitely not the dirtiest hotel in the city.

Really enjoyable place to stay, especially considering the price. Good location, very helpful staff, excellent food in their restaurant. The only drawback I can think of is that there is some club just below the hotel that plays loud music. However, it is not too quiet in Thamel anyway.

Hard beds, loud music next door, and messy bathrooms - but you get what you pay for. The staff is friendly, very willing to give advice and engage. Great location in Thamel. They also run a great restaurant in the hostel. Really good hostel for a young person traveling on a budget.

A good hostel in the center of Kathmandu, though didn't seem to have much of a social side to it. also a little expensive with no dorms (yeah I'm a miser trying save every penny!)

good location in the center of thamel..water isn't that hot but acceptable...very noisy at night time because a bar is just a next door..

Perfectly located in the centre of Thamel with everything you need just around the corner. Hotel is little worn down, rooms a very noisy, but hey this is Thamel :-) The restaurant is actually realy good and cheap! Best clubsandwich in town... Staff tries hard, but this is Nepal, so they fail by western standards I guess. We stayed here twice, good value.

Staff were lovely, very friend and helpful. Great location - very central. Room was not the cleanest, only one towel was given and there was a double rather than a twin.

An excellent place to stay! Clean rooms, central location, good food, and a friendly staff. The staff in particular made this a great place to stay. I booked three separate trips through them (Bhutan, Everest Base Camp, and Tibet) and was pleased with all three in terms of price and service. It's always hard to find a place you can trust, and when the Hotel Potala staff didn't know an answer, they made phone calls rather than making things up. Super place -- strongly recommend it.
