It took them a while to check us in, which pretty much delayed our entire afternoon of siteseeing. They didnt know if we had a room with air conditioning or not, so we had to go onto hostelworld.com and show them that the room we paid for included AC. Overall, the hotel was nice, clean, and in a pretty good location. The breakfast was unhealthy and fried, no fruit.

Should be upfront about Mosquitos in room with no air conditioning. Workers are very nice, and do a good job of making you feel at home, but rooms can be cleaner/tidier.

We booked this hostal for New Year in Cartagena and when we arrived we found that they had overbooked and we were transferred to another hostal down the road and then they refused to return our deposit (which amounted to $30) , or to give it to the hostal where we stayed; however, the one saving grace was that where we ended up staying was incredibly nice and hospitable. I would definitely say skip Hotel San Roque and check into Casa de la Americas just down the street.

It's about what you would expect from a cheaper hotel. The room with AC was really nice but otherwise the rooms with only fans were often tiny, cramped, and hot with bugs. It was impossible to tell whether we were getting a room with or without AC when booking on Hostel World so we got re-located in the hostel to different rooms a lot. It's a good location on Media Luna but it was a fairly average experience all around. We would have been happy if we had a bigger AC room the whole time.

On a previous visit, we stayed in the Jardin room, which was huge and beautiful and had a great big bed and a cute window and a table and chairs. This time was a terrible disappointment. We were in a tiny claustrophobic room with hardly enough space for the bed. The bathroom had space at the cieling so that you could hear the people outside your room. It was hot, even with two fans blowing. The breakfast was still fine, but I was very let-down after the prior excellent experience

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Location a little loud, but close to all. Some air con would be nice. But all in all a decent budget hotel.
