Yes burning bodies along the river are the order of the day. Then again you not get that veiw anywhere else in the world, therefore I rated the location as excellent. Rooms are large, each have little balcony very good for India budget hotel. Very good value for money even out of the mouth of our friends who live in Varanasi. Centrally situated along the river with easy access to all ghats by boatmen waiting at your ghat.Yes burning bodies along the river are the order of the day. Great location over the burning ghat as long as you can put up with a bit of smoke, roof top restaurant slow and limited with food choices. Location right beside the funeral pyres - for some this can be a bit much. The whole area is very 'India', with a lot of funeral activities going on. A good place to see the 'real India'. The only problem was the staff (telling my driver that I had already left because I would not book through them) and the poor condition of the room (although not all were like this). Unfortunately we did not have a good experience with this hotel. It was off season and we were aware that some hotels are not up to standard with some of the services they offer, but we didn't expect our room to be absolutely filthy so it was very dissapointing. The manager was very apologetic, which we appreciated, but still, it was really bad. The only good thing about this hotel is the good view of one of the cremation ghats if that is what you are looking for.Unfortunately we did not have a good experience with this hotel.
