After our stay in a traditional Japanese style house, this hotel didn't really live up to our expectations. The room smelled strongly of smoke and you could only use the shower at very limited times in the day which meant that we missed it when we arrived in the evening. However, this hotel is cheap if that is what you are looking for.

Very close to JR loop line and subway. No cooking facilities but hot showers available 24/7 and Japanese style communal hot tub in evenings with time slots by gender. Free wi-fi, laundry 100 yen and helpful reception staff. Japanese style rooms very good value for money compared to local offering so we went back and used it as a base for daily commuting to Kyoto using JR pass.

Much more of a hotel feel than a hostel. Japanese style bath is wonderful but could use more available hours. Japanese and western style toilets available. Shower rooms had decent amount of space for dressing and such. Located just a couple minutes from the JR Shinimamiya station. The area around is supposedly the sketchiest part of Osaka, but that just means you'll see some graffiti and homeless. I never felt unsafe walking around at night.

Good clean place with English speaking front desk who were very helpful. Wireless connection was good. With my JR pass location was ideal as Shin-Imamiya station is close by. Lobby computer chairs were not comfortable (may be purposely). Japanese restaurant and 2 "family mart" shops nearby solving the food issue.

The price is very low, so it is reasonable to not expect too much. The location is good, very close to subway and JR station. Staff speak good English, but the share bathroom might not suitable to everyone. The cleanliness is in average.

The room was small and clean, but the mattress and pillow very hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. The bathroom too was clean but equally small and this presented some difficulty, given that it's a Japanese style bathroom with no curtain around the shower or bath and nowhere to put one's clothes or the towel.

This hostel was wonderful and I definitely will go again if in the area! It's the perfect price for exactly what you need and clean and only a few minutes from the train station and subway. The staff was great and spoke some English and the open bath was clean and really nice after a day of sightseeing. I give this place a 6 for location, staff, value for money and facilities!

Generally a good stay, rooms cheap, staff helpful and close to the train station. Rooms were a bit noisy (nothing earplugs didn't fix) and mine smelt of smoke. Building old and could do with a spring clean, but nothing too bad. Would happily stay again.

Thanks very much for the helpful staff, especially Steve, who speaks excellent English. It would be more convenient if there could be more showers and western toilets on the other floors.

Its near the JR Loop Line and takes an additional 25 mins of travel from shin-osaka. Travel within Osaka Attractions will be good since the JR loop offers convenient . Other than that, it it near SPA world . A fridge, tvs , share bathroom . A backpackers heaven.

I really love my stay at this hostel. Staffs were friendly. They showed us all amenities upon arrival. I stayed at a private room with my sister. The room was clean. Bathrobe, towel, toothpaste, toothbrush were provided. There was a TV in the room. Washroom was clean. Shampoo and bodywash were provided, too. I would highly recommend Hotel Taiyo to those on budget trip. Totally worth of money!
