It's a business hotel, so you won't find it as close-knit or touristy as other hostels(they do have tourist information however), but they offer good rooms(tatami in our case) and boast a good location right next to the subway and walking distance from great sights. The desk spoke great English and was friendly. Didn't get to try the showers(there are shower times), but we were happy to have warm toilet seats available. I would highly recommend staying here for the modest living and convenience.

We did enjoy our stay in Hotel Taiyo. It was fairly clean and the staff was very friendly. Only 1 thing to mention....It would be better if more showers are available!

As you may know in Japan everything is ovepriced. Saying that, Taiyo, which is not really an hostel but a small hotel or pension, is a very good deal for the money. It's very well located in terms of transportation (airport and main areas in the city). It is clean and safe. Staff are helpful. It's only missing a couple of things that you'd expect in an hostel like a common area or a common kitchen that would give a little bit more character to this place.

Excellent location right next to the subway and a JR station. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Room is pretty basic: two mats for sleeping, a shelf for your bags, and a TV that we didn't have the time or desire to use. Shared shower on the first floor, with designated mens' and womens' times in the evening. There are also two individual shower stalls available for use anytime. Pretty basic accommodations, but sufficient for a few nights' stay.

This was my 2nd stay after 2010.Upon my arrival I was apologized that all single room was full. They honored my booking by giving double room instead at no extra charge. The room just fit well for me(both double and single(extended my stay)). Now they had 24hrs shower. This is a hotel, thus cant expect hostel like cozy lounge and kitchens, but u can always sit the lobby reading the sightseeing leaflets and chat w/ the staffs. JR,Nankai, subway nearby.Walking distance to DenDen and Shinsaibashi

The hotel is clean but dont expect something fancy its a business hotel. However the staff know a lot about the neighbourhood and they are really helpful. We could sleep on the futon cuz of some back problem and they upgrade us in another room without fees.

The room only has an air-cond (up to 28 degrees) but the room itself wasn't too cold so it was alright. Bath has restricted hour so if you really want to have a hot soak you sort of have to arrange your travel time around the bath time and can be even more troublesome when you are a couple (different sexes have different bath time). Two shower rooms in a 9-floor building is definitely not sufficient. However, with the low price, I think it worth the money.

charcter : quite ordinary security : good location : less than 2 mins walk from JR train stat and near to other line train stat too (less than 10 mins walk ) also quite close to the zoo & 1 shopping street. got 1 mkt nearby staff : friendly, try to help & some do speak good english atmosphere : quiet & peace cleanliness : though old but very clean value for money : YES facility : hair dryer, microwave, vending machine, hot water, shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, tower, sliper, travel nfo,

The room was a bit stinky, like the bedclothes had been left in the washing machine for too long and had become moldy. Also having two showers for basically the whole building meant there was a significantly long time to wait to have a shower. However the cost was very low, so on that basis I would recommend the hotel to others.

The rooms are quite small, but you have a Tv and a fridge in there. You can walk easily to the electronic quater from here and just a few minutes further is the long street with a lot of restaurants.

Hotel gets mega-points for the Japanese bath-house - a hot soak every night was great! It's also excellent for solo travellers as it has single private rooms; a bit tiny, but I was delighted by the tatami mats & futon, and yukata & slippers to wear around the hotel. Staff are lovely and friendly. Great location - in Osaka, the subway is almost mandatory, and it's right by a mainline stop, minutes from downtown. For fun bars & food, don't miss ShinSekai, through the arcade opposite the station.

Really pretty good for the money. Nice staff, clean rooms, didn't worry about my stuff getting stolen. I only had two problems with it, and one was my own fault, so I won't hold it against them. The first is that they have eastern-style toilets, and either I didn't research hard enough, or it wasn't publicized. I don't know, but kind of an awkward surprise. The second is the acoustics of the entire building. I could hear every step taken on my floor, and a lot taken on the floor above me.
