We had troubles while coming to Venezia, and our friends couldn't come with us anymore. Even if we arrived at 10 am to tell we will be less persons, the persons didn't want to ear anything about it, and made us pay for everybody. Didn't even wanted to cancel for free one of the two nights. When we came in the evening there was no hot water, and the man at reception, even with the hand under the cold water was saying it was hot!!!! Internet was not working half of the time. There was a bad smell.
Really close to the mestre train station (approx 10 minutes walking). Google maps it before you get there. Only 1.20€ train to the island of venice. Nothing bad to say except that sometimes the door to the reception is closed and you have to wait or knock on a private room. No hostel atmosphere - this is a hotel with dorms.
The hotel smelled like gas (probably from the heat system). When we mentioned this to the receptionist, she just denied it. She didn't even check!. Then, the rooms didn't have a private bathroom, and I am sure it never said so in my reservation. Then, the single beds were too old and more like just matresses, than real beds. We disliked it so much, that we actually just stayed 2 of the 3 nights we had paid. We definitely DON'T recommend this hotel.
The hotel is located right next to the bus that goes to Venice, that is the good thing, but although our room was big, we could hear everything the people next door was talking about. Also, we had spiderwebs in our room, and we found a brassier under one of the beds. The shower was broken, so it was hard to take a proper shower. The day we had to leave, the reception was closed, even though it said that the check out was until 11:00 am (we left at 10:30).
It's a very cheap hotel in Mestre, which is very close to Venice. It's worth it to take an accommodation there and go to Venice by bus (the bus stop and train station are really close). There is also a supermarket front the bus stop. Staff is friendly. It's true that it's very warm in summer, but, what do you expect? At least, there was a fan in the room!
Great basic hostel in Venice Mestre, staying off the island and getting the bus there was a good choice, it's nice to get away somewhere more peaceful in the evenings. The bus stop is about 5 mins from the hostel and it's only about 10mins from Mestre station. We thought we would be in a shared room but had a private, large room with a big window and a sink. The room got VERY hot during the day and didn't cool much at night so if your sensitive to heat go somewhere with air con instead!
