It was weird that in every 5 minutes, you can hear the train voices because there is a metro station under the hostel. So i didnt sleep until the morning. But if you are coming from the gare du nord, it is very easy to find the hostel. In 15 minutes you can arrive to the hostel. Bed is uncorfortable and there was no english channel on tv. Also you should bring shampoo if you want to take a shower.

Hotel Voltaire Republique is well located and has a friendly staff. It's not particularly beautiful or big, but it's clean and has the necessary facilities. The negative point is the internet, that is too slow for a paid service.

Pros: Central and cheap. Cons: VERY VERY dirty. Old urine stains on the toilet seat, hairs in the bed, shower and washbasin. Obvious stains on the bedspread. The walls are very dirty too. The woman who works at the front desk speaks VERY softly and eventually so soft that you cannot hear her at all. She was not very helpful with recommending activities and seemed afraid to talk. Quite noisy because other guests let their children run around at 11 PM at night in the halls incessantly.

Great stay here, brilliant value for money. Easy to get around with the metro and staff were friendly.

Some of the staff were very good and helpful, others had no interest in there work. Our bedroom and bathroom were never cleaned for the week of our stay. The hotel needs a good cleaning and staff training.

There were bed bugs in our room. When we tried to he a refund, they refused. Hen we tried to get a new ro they refused as well. It was the worst night of my life sleeping on the bathroom floor tryin to get away from bed bugs. Terrible.

The hostel is very well located, near restaurants, cafés, supermarket and two subway stations. There's no refrigerator, room is a bit dark and the water takes a bit long to get warm. It's a good value for money but may not be the best choice for long stays.
