A mixed bag of a hostel. Staff very kind and friendly! Good location too! The bedroom wasn't cleaned before we arived so we had to wait for the cleaner to arrive an hour later. The "fresh" bedding didn't seem to be fresh either. Cleanliness not exactly the best. The cafe/canteen was strange. We had probably the worst continental breakfast I have ever had and they didn't even bring out all the food nor cutlery to eat it with. Aside from the cleanliness and food, this is an OK place to stay.

Great for an overnight stay in Wellington because it's right by the buses, trains, and ferries. Hotel atmosphere, not a hostel. Clean rooms, unstable squeaky beds, loud outside (though that doesn't bother me). Room was ensuite, which was awesome. Kitchen was large, clean, and even had an oven. No extras in terms of cooking supplies, though. Wouldn't have picked it if I was planning to stay in Wellington longer, but it was great for what I needed.

Convenient to those travelling by rail and nakedbus.com , however, it is away from the city center. It has a pub on basement floor. Rooms are spacious and have ensuite bathroom.

Stayed in a few hostels in my time and really enjoyed this hostel. Comfy beds, clean areas and excellent location. There's a bar , tv room and a cafe with really nice low cost food. Failing that there's a McDonalds at the bottom. Only five minutes from Wellington shopping area Inc. Cuba street which was just amazing. Would stay again and will recommend to any travellers I see planning to head to Wellington.

A great place to stay!

Stayed only for one night, but it seems quite nice hostel considering how big it is.

Conveniently placed by the train station and the waterfront, and close to the botanic gardens. Doesn't take long to get anywhere in town either. Clean, friendly and facilities are good. Has a range of people staying. Would recommend.

A bit difficult to find as not named on the outside (Waterloo) what it was named in the booking ( Downtown) and big but not bad at all. Well organised, kept and run, it could have been a dive judging by it's outside and location (just opposite the station) with a bars on two floors but was anything but. I had a private room which was clean, well equipped and quiet. The bathroom was out of date, a bit dingy and noisy but only shared with one other single room. Sky TV took a while to work out.

the only thing that i wasnt happy about was the power points not working in the room and having to climb up on bunkbeds at my age in time. they should just make it a single room shared bathroom and have the bigger rooms 2 single beds in the one room but everything else i was happy about :)

My first really bad experience in a hostel with the management ! And I know what I'm talking about because I went in around 80 hostels around the world and at least 30 only in New Zealand. Really amazing, and not in a positive way ...

Only booked here for location as I just wanted a place to lay my head. Super location- right next to the railway station and ferry! Rooms were clean, a little dated but fine. Had an ensuite which was clean too. Beds aren't super nice but it's okay!

Really bad, didn't sleep, got me run down ended up with a cold sore two days later. Pretty unmotivated reception staff, not bothered at all. I would avoid.

Pretty good hostel although its a long way from the main bar strip if you want to go out. Also the wifi can be glitchy, although you do get 100 MB free per device per day.

Certainly close to the Bluebridge ferry and center of town, station etc. Nice hostel.

Really close to the ferry, but far from the city center.

Australian and New Zealand hostels are pretty expensive and beat-up. This is no exception. However, if using the Bluebridge Ferry to or from Picton, this hostel is just across the street from the ferry terminal making it very easy to find and use. The place was at full capacity, but the staff were still friendly and very helpful. Very basic, but doubt you'll find better for the money.

The hostel is well located, easy to find with a 24h reception, which is always good. The rooms were quite big with an ensuite. The ensuite was rundown and had some mould. There was only 1 plug socket in a bedroom for 8 people.

The building was being repainted whilst we were there, which will be beneficial as it seems a bit tired. It can't seem to decide whether it is a hostel or budget hotel which creates a funny vibe. The kitchen is industrial size which means there is plenty of room to cook. Location is excellent as it is right opposite the train station (which has bus transfers to the ferry terminal). The naked bus stops literally at the doorstop.

The kitchen was a joke !
