The place had a good location, 2 minutes walk from playa Principal. The bathrooms were very cramped. They had 2 toilets and 2 showers between at least 10 people. Not sure how clean the place was, but I saw a mouse in the terrace. It's a party hostel. Don't stay here if you expect to get a decent night's sleep.

Mayflower was a really nice place to stay. The first night we stayed in a 3 bed private room (with a balcony) and the second in a dorm. They were both nice and clean. There was some noise at night on the seaside room. The only negative thing was that we had to pay for leaving our stuff in the lockers and using the showers after check out. We would recommend Mayflower to everyone.

We had a private room so it was lovely and clean with fresh sheets and towels everyday. The hot water was plentiful and the kitchen was lovely! Also the pool table area was a great place to chat and party with the other guests. I really enjoyed the location which was about 20 meters downhill from the beach. Only thing that was annoying is that when you checkout and want to store your bags, or borrow the kitchen or have a shower it costs money. Approx $20 peso, $30 pesos, and $30 respectively.

This was our second time staying here. It is a great hostel, very clean, great view of the sea. This time it was pretty noisy due to the surrounding bars, Playa Zicatela may be quieter.

It's close to the beach. There is a kitchen to cook for yourself, breakfast is not included and there is only water available for free. There is only one key per room and that one is always kept outside in the door to open it. Although there is always someone at the entrance it seems not very secure to leave your valuables in the rooms. The showers and toilets are very small and do not have hot water during my stay.

great hostel in wonderful location, plenty of common areas and one of the best cooking facilities ever seen in a hostel. breakfast not included, but free water and free cereal available all day.

The hostel is a great location off the main beach by less than 100ft. The beach is primarily a mexican family beach so take this into consideration. This hostel gets a bonus for having great places to socialize including a pool table on upper level. The only issue i had with the staff was that they were not friendly and helpful always. I met the owner the last day and she was amazingly cheerful and a great person. I am sad i did not experience her more often.

Popularish with backpackers, better to stay near Zicatela beach as the centre where the Mayflower is feels rundown. Also all good bars & restaurants are near Zicatela.

The only thing that was good about the hostel was the travellers that we met. The receptionist was rude and wasn't helpful at all.

I stayed with my wife and daughter and we had two beds in a comfortable room. WiFi was a nice touch, but it didn't work in the room itself. There's a good kitchen and several communal areas, making for a good atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed being able to shower before leaving in the evening. The location is excellent; it's a short stroll to the shops and beach. We'd definitely consider staying there again if ever we returned to Puerto Escondido.

We really enjoyed this hostel. Good location, nice clean room and bathroom cleaned daily. Pool table on the upper deck, English speaking staff. Made plenty of friends here. The only real negatives are it's a little bit party-ish; we were woken by a very obnoxious gang of aussies at 3.00am; not really the hostels fault I guess. Also we heard from other guests about robberies from peoples rooms - we never experienced this, so I can't confirm it's accurate but we heard it more than once....

Great place, great staff, excellent location, very clean. I've booked the single room for myself online which was not available when I arrived, but instead I've got the large room with 3 beds, bathroom and balcon. Staff was very friendly and helpful, perfect location, just 2 minutes from the beach, 1 minute from busy street with all shops and restaurants. Beautiful view from the balcony on the palms and Pacific ....I've decided to stay 2 extra days. Highly recommended:)

Nice building full of plants and open spaces. Decent kitchen. Close to super market and 15 minute walk from amazing swimming beaches. Can´t remember if they said 'free breakfast´but it´s only super sugary cerial anyway. make sure you mark your food or it will definitely get knicked (our expirience and others). shared male and female toilets and showers. dorms are decent and sheets are changed everyday. no locks on dorms but small lockers are available. Private double room was great.

Fabulous hostel!! Very clean and so close to the beach. I had a single room which was spacious and clean. Minne is a great host and even took me to the bus station in her car! I also had to leave a day early and they gave me back my money for the last night no problem. A little quiet for a single girl but a beautiful place which you should visit. Stay at the Mayflower!!!

Good experience, nice rooms and facilities. Last night staying was kept awake until 5am by partying people in library room and I think there were some people on the roof! Rules seem clear, but werent enforced.

Great location. Nice upstairs area with pool table. Clean beds. Cheap beers available. Dorm rooms didn't have lockable doors. No hot water when we were there. We booked bunks in a 7 bed dorm, and were placed in a female- only room. The one other woman complained and so my boyfriend and I had to change rooms at 1:30am. Luckily, they put us in a large private room for the rest of our stay for no extra charge!
