i love the mayflower, its cheap clean and fun. i came 4 years ago and it seemed like it was a bit quieter this time, i hope it doesn't lose its popularity as it would be a great shame! My advice to them would be to let people keep alcohol in the fridge, most of the other hostels in the area allow it and it may cause them to lose customers.

location was good - just up from the beach, restaurants, etc. Dorm was very stuffy, but if you opened the window, kept the door open and the fan on - it was fine. There were no hot showers, but in that heat I didn't need any. Liked the upstairs terrace with pool table.

No hot water, showers separated by a semi transparent glass wall, no room key so the rooms are always open.

I dont get the whole fuss about the Mayflower, its not that a good hostel. Didnt like the vibe of this hotel and also its rather difficult to socialize as for the common areas! The showers are very poor too.

Clean. Secure. Trustworthy cleaning staff. Close to beach. Taxis know where it is. Fresh towels and sheets. A bit noisy (So you don't forget you're in Mexico) but depends on room #. 25 peso taxis almost anywhere in Puerto, so location isn't really an issue (walk to Zicatela to party or surf, cab back late at night if worried about safety). Many restaurants nearby. Proper building, not a palapa hut with sand fleas. Free Internet. Not always hot water. Not all staff speak English. No pool.

This hostel wasn't all we expected from the reviews. We were originally in a four bed dorm upstairs that was possibly the worst security I've ever seen in a hostel. It was steaming hot with a tin roof and pretty terrible. We upgraded to a private double room which was fantastic. Clean, comfortable room with private bath and tv. Well worth the extra cost. Good location and easy access to beach etc.
