500 metres from the main street and the beach, a bit further away from the bars but hey, it's a trade-off between sleeping quality and being close to the bars. Very nice hostel, no breakfast though (but ok, you go out late so breakfast is overrated anyhow). Stayed in a 4-bed dorm which was nice, it had ventilators but still it was very hot (probably everywhere in Puerto though). It has some great common areas where you can meet people!

Great hostel! I spent the first night in the dorm. It was acceptable, but for me the shared bathroom was small and the room crowded with furniture (I think other dorm rooms were nicer, but the staff was kind enough to separate me from groups of men). A single room with bathroom was in my budget, so I switched rooms and it was perfect. Great price, helpful staff, and near the beach.

The best beach location is Zicatela, while Mayflower is on the main beach. However, it's a good place to stay if you're looking for a lively hostel: it's easy to meet people, there are big common spaces including a rooftop terrace with a pool table, the dorms have ceiling fans, the hostel is nicely decorated. However, beware of spider (?) bites - I've stayed there twice, and twice I've been bitten by incredibly itchy that - so I have been told - live in wooden floors and furniture there.

The place had a good location, 2 minutes walk from playa Principal. The bathrooms were very cramped. They had 2 toilets and 2 showers between at least 10 people. Not sure how clean the place was, but I saw a mouse in the terrace. It's a party hostel. Don't stay here if you expect to get a decent night's sleep.

Mayflower was a really nice place to stay. The first night we stayed in a 3 bed private room (with a balcony) and the second in a dorm. They were both nice and clean. There was some noise at night on the seaside room. The only negative thing was that we had to pay for leaving our stuff in the lockers and using the showers after check out. We would recommend Mayflower to everyone.

We had a private room so it was lovely and clean with fresh sheets and towels everyday. The hot water was plentiful and the kitchen was lovely! Also the pool table area was a great place to chat and party with the other guests. I really enjoyed the location which was about 20 meters downhill from the beach. Only thing that was annoying is that when you checkout and want to store your bags, or borrow the kitchen or have a shower it costs money. Approx $20 peso, $30 pesos, and $30 respectively.

This was our second time staying here. It is a great hostel, very clean, great view of the sea. This time it was pretty noisy due to the surrounding bars, Playa Zicatela may be quieter.

It's close to the beach. There is a kitchen to cook for yourself, breakfast is not included and there is only water available for free. There is only one key per room and that one is always kept outside in the door to open it. Although there is always someone at the entrance it seems not very secure to leave your valuables in the rooms. The showers and toilets are very small and do not have hot water during my stay.

The hostel is a great location off the main beach by less than 100ft. The beach is primarily a mexican family beach so take this into consideration. This hostel gets a bonus for having great places to socialize including a pool table on upper level. The only issue i had with the staff was that they were not friendly and helpful always. I met the owner the last day and she was amazingly cheerful and a great person. I am sad i did not experience her more often.

Popularish with backpackers, better to stay near Zicatela beach as the centre where the Mayflower is feels rundown. Also all good bars & restaurants are near Zicatela.
