Perfect place if you are catching a long distance train as it is directly opposite the station. Most people are in transit here so there isn't much of an atmosphere. I think it is an old hotel converted into a hostel so it is quite grand and very clean. Bathrooms are great and the rooms are nice enough, wifi is good too. Wouldn't stay here if you want to see Bangkok and party but would definitely stay again if I was in Bangkok for a night waiting for a train.
The hostel is a great choice if you only spend a few days in bangkok. It is easy to reach from the airport with heavy backpacks with the metro and is right across the street from the train station, where most trains leave (to ayutthaya, to poipet / cambodian border). Also the cool roofbars (e.g. sirocco ) are only a short and cheap taxi ride away. The dorm was very clean, the bathroom was daily cleaned and the beds were made every day! The food was also really good and the whole place felt cozy
Stayed in this hostel 3 years ago and it looks like the rooms have not been cleaned since then! Everything is rather dirty and looks very used and badly maintained. Stayed in two different rooms, the double room had a window that did not close properly, inviting a swarm of mosquitos at night and the single room had an ac that, when activated, distributed a unpleasant cigarette smell in the room which stay for the entire night. Lastly, this is the first hostel to charge for bag storage!
Perfect for a quiet night in Bangkok. Unbelievable value for money
We paid extra for a nice place to stay for our first night after a long flight to Thailand and arrived to find cockroaches EVERYWHERE! Asked to move room but instead the lady on reception sent a man to kill them, who then proceeded to pretend to squash them all. Do not stay here, pay a couple of quid for somewhere cheap- will probably be better than here.
Only stayed one night but was very pleased. Right next to the railway station so if your catching a train in the morning it's perfect.
This hostel is very convenient to the Hua Lamphong Train Station. We were able to check in very early in the morning which was wonderful. The food in the restaurant is good. The rooms are basic but clean. Air con good, hot shower good, elevator slow but great to have. Wifi not good in my room, but great in restaurant. Would recommend when traveling by train.
The proximity to the train station is a huge benefit if you plan on taking the train. We were running late for our train, but our journey from the door of our room on the third floor to our platform at the station took roughly 5 minutes. The place is clean, the staff is helpful, and you're literally steps away from the subway. Overall a great value.
nice place. it was the 3r time i stay at this hostel. the atmosphere was better befor the renovation because it was more like home and not like a sterile hotel. but i still like the place because of the location, the facilities and the food.
Really good value for money and very secure room. The restaurant is really cheap but they ran out of meat!! so had to go elsewhere and around the hostel there really isn't much. This is a perfect place for a stopover between long train journeys as the hostel is only over the road from Hua Lamphong station.
Lovely kitchen staff with amazing breakfast - you do have to pay but it's worth it. Can also get other meals here. TV room was good, they have a selection of DVDs. I chose this hostel for the location as I came from the train station (you can walk from there) and also had to get the subway to the airport so it was perfect.
This is a perfect location for if you are catching a train at Hua Lompang, no joke, it's across the street. Not the best area otherwise but the MRT is right there so you can get around and the MRT will connect to both the BTS and the Airport Link lines. This is a hotel but they have a dorm with good beds and good showers. No atmosphere as it tends to be a stop over. 7-11 and booking agents nearby. Great local vegetarian restaurant across the main road and down the side street.
Great location for train station, easy to find, good coffee/breakfast downstairs!
As everyone says, this is a quiet, not so social hostel. Ideal for a 1-2 night stay as its directly across the street from the Hua Lampong rail station. To avoid traffic or rain if you've arrived from the rail station, go into the MRT station and walk to the opposite exit. This way you don't have to cross the road and you immediately pop up 20 feet from the hostel. Wish I would have known this before crossing in a downpour of rain! Staff here are very friendly and incredibly helpful.
