IHSP Chicago Hostel at Damen CTA Reviews

We stayed only one night, but I highly recommend this place. Helpful staff, nice location and Wicker Park is definitely the best neighborhood to stay!

I was satisfied with everything at HISP and enjoyed my trip there except for one thing. That was there were no plugs near around my bed. I used 10 females dorm, and my bed was #3. It's somewhat inconvenient to charge battery of cellphone or laptop. I hope you set up some equipment or plug around there.

I had a pretty good experience at this hostel. I stayed in the female dorm room which opens up right onto the common area and kitchen, so falling asleep before midnight was difficult because of noise. Also temperature in our room was a problem. The first night it was too cold, and then two following nights it was incredibly hot, to the point that I woke up sweating and couldn't fall back asleep. The bathroom situation is a little weird, but nothing I acclimate myself to.

hostel nice but neighborhood loud at night and hardwood floors loud so tough to fall asleep. plastic mattress cover at double bed also pretty noisy!

I enjoyed my staying in IHSP. It was awesome! I could meet diverse people in there, and toilets and rooms were clean. Breakfast was a delicious pancake and the amount of it was enough for every people in there. You can also have free tea from the kitchen. Thanks, Hwa Jung.

The staff was so helpful and nice! Very new and modern facilities. The bathrooms tended to be on the less clean side, but overall, everything was better than expected! And the neighborhood is awesome – so many cool places to walk around. Thanks!

I enjoyed the IHSP at Damen CTA, the location is really really good, I can arrive at there in a few minutes on foot, the staff here is really nice, though I don't know her name, she was really helpful to introduce Chicago for me. I'm very appreciate for that. Deyu

We really enjoyed our stay at IHSP. Our only regret is that the separate location for the private rooms was removed from the main location that we did not get an opportunity to hang out and meet other guests. The room itself was spacious, comfortable, and clean. The staff was outstanding and very helpful in answering questions and making suggestions; and the location was unbeatable! We are already planning our next trip back!

For the shared bathrooms, a sink outside the actual bathroom would be great so tooth brushing could be something other than an hour-long ordeal. Also there was no hot water at the off-site building location.

Good hostel. Would recommend it to groups more than single travelers as it can get quite loud, but once they close the common area at 12 it will be fine. It was a bit hot in my room but the staff turned the heating down as soon as I mentioned it.

breakfast was good, unlimited pancakes!!! Hostel has two locations both nice and location was good, easy access to metro and staff were helpful.

IHSP was a pleasant surprise. I stayed in a private room with shared bathrooms and found the overall quality of the hostel to be commendable. The bathrooms and showers were clean, my room was clean and spacious, and the lounge facilities were inviting with a full kitchen, tv, couches and games. Location was excellent - right in the middle of trendy Wicker Park with tons of bars, restaurants and shopping right next door. Towels were free, something I love in hostels. Only complaint - a bit noisy.

Here just like a home. Staff is very friendly and they are really care about my living. I live beside the kitchen so in the usual time there are many people chat there, but over 12 am. staff will keep the order there. I really like here :)))

All the staffs are very kind and facilities are pretty good. I've stayed in basic 3 private room and It is in the other builing. I expected three single bed but there are a standard bed(pretty okay for 2)and a single bed. During night, It was pretty cold because of breeze from the window right next to the bed. Atmostere was also good and Location also very good. You can make and eat pancakes in every morning as you want. I'm satisfied with IHSP

Great location in Wicker Park, very friendly staff, very modern facilities... dorm room air circulation wasn't ideal. Would still stay there again though.

Excellent hostel and thoroughly enjoyed staying there and wished I could have stayed longer. Great staff and brilliant communal area - met some really nice people too!

It was a great place to stay in an interesting neighborhood with a lot of things to do. Having to separate buildings down the street from each other was somewhat strange. Overall a great place to stay and visit Chicago.
