No hot water. The manager is really unfriendly And only after her money! Too much wood so you can hear everything from upstairs.

iguana is just far enough away to get some sleep and still be an easy 2 min walk to the town and beach. The place was kept clean and tidy, the kitchen was awesome and even had a blender so i could make fresh juices! i stayed in the loft dormitory on the roof and it was great - nice and cool during the night and every bed has a mosquito net so i didnt get any bites while sleeping and none of my friends or me had any problem with bed bugs. i'm definately coming back!

Everyone here was nice, but it wasn't really a comfortable place to sit and hang out. One of the three bathrooms didn't have water on the floor constantly. Hot water didn't work. Kitchen was nice though, always good to be able to cook.

My husband and I both were awake the majority of the night with the feeling of bugs biting us. We were using the mosquito nets but it felt like bugs were crawling all over us. You should check for bed bugs, maybe consider getting new mattresses. Also, the loud speakers that are a telephone pole near the bridge are very annoying. Announcements were coming over it pass 11 pm.

This hostel is just perfect! excellent location (close from the beach and slightly outside from the centre and the big noise). The rooms are really nice, clean with comfy beds. Bathrooms are spacious, clean with hot water! The terrace outside is awesome to hang out, chill and get some drinks! The stuff is very friendly and helpful! strongly recommended !

I loved Iguana Backpackers! The location was perfect. A short walk to everything but at the same time a good distance from the noise. My favorite part was the deck where I had a great time meeting other guests before going out. Had a nice sleep with the cool breeze on the terrace and rested assured with my belongings secured in a locker. The hostel was kept quite clean as well. Owner Karen was adorable and always available to help. One of the best hostels I've stayed in during my travels.

I stayed in Iguana for two weeks. The hostel is very clean; Margarita, the maid, comes every morning to clean. The showers have hot water. The common area it's on the open, which is great considering the high temperatures in Montanita. The loft is also great, it's also in the open and the beds have mosqueteros; so it chiller to sleep in. I strongly recommend the hostel; It feels like being in the jungle, only you have Montanita a block away. Ben is very friendly and cool to hang out with. The hostel manager

The location of the hostel is perfect as you are away from the craziness of the main strip, but only a couple of minutes walk away. There is a nice terrace out front where people can drink and socialize before heading out. Great way to get to know people. The staff we're extremely welcoming and friendly, to the point of almost going beyond the call of duty. I would highly recommend Montanita and this hostel.

Overall, the place had a nice atmosphere but was not very clean. I got bed-bugs from my mattress and asked they owner to fix the problem and all she did was spray a can of raid on my bed. She refused to wash my clothes or give me a refund. But if it weren't for the bed bugs, I would have enjoyed my stay there.

I stayed upstairs in the loft and on a hot stuffy night the breeze you get up there is much appreciated, everything else was average it's a 2min walk to beach and bars etc which is perfect, would recommend staying for a weekend or something but any longer wouldn't be fun

The showers here are definitely good, hot and powerful. One thing which the hostel gets very right. The mosquito nets are also pretty decent. The hostel is at the mercy of the smelly river/stagnant cesspool which does get atrociously smelly..but from what I could see many of the hostels in montanita probably suffer from the same problem. The beds which aren't in the loft get very hot at night time so I would advise to pick a bed in the loft. Hostel is pretty noisy and drug filled.

Would suggest fixing the plumbing problem. Bed 4 in the 10 person dorm left me with bedbug bites.

It was the worst I haved stayed. Dirty. Bad located, It is next to polluted river that smells really bad…. The manager, Margarita, is impolite, is not prepared to handle any tourists and told me that the Hostelworld booking ís more expensive. There’re many hostels closer to the beach, cheaper and with breakfast included. Fue el peor albergue en el mundo que me he alojado. Súcias. Mal ubicado, está al lado de um rio contaminado que huele muy mal. El gerente, Margarita, no está preparada para manej

Great atmosphere. A short walk from the center - less noise. I stayed at the "open air" top floor, where there is a roof but no walls. Very nice, but even though there are mosquito nets I got bitten a lot.

I loved sleeping on the terrace. Beds are comfortable, with good mosquito nets. The dorm is a very pleasant and safe place with lockers, plugs and a fresh breeze all around for chilled out afternoons reading a book or hàving a nap after lunch or the beach. I enjoyed the company of my roommates and the hostel keepers as well as their local friends. We had a great barbecue in the patio downstairs. That was the perfect dinner party before heading to town on a crazy Sat night! highly recommended!!
